Stereo Workflow with Maya/Nuke/Houdini

#1

Hi,
I’ve a problem deciding which stereo setup I should use in Maya (either Off-Axis or Parallel mode) for an animated feature film in order to easily and accurately export the camera position to Nuke and Houdini and maybe even 3DSmax.
I really prefer the stereo look of using Off-Axis but can’t find the correct workflow to export my camera in the other software.

Any recommandations ? Which setup usually the companies are using ? Is there any tools in order to easily export the Off-Axis camera from Maya to the others ?

Thanks !

I find off-axis cameras to be easier to work with and more effective for stereo workflows. Parallel works, but it has limits since there’s not an obvious convergence point.

Getting cameras into Nuke is super easy, just fbx export the left and right cam separately and use a join view node combine them and bring them into Nuke’s stereo work-space. I’ve never had a problem doing things this way.
No idea about Houdini though.
