The last few weeks I have been working on a python scripted Pose saver tool for Maya.
For those who don’t know a Pose Saver is a animation tool for quick saving a character rigs pose, to be reapplied at the press of a button when needed. Useful at saving time in a production workflow.*
My recent issue has been saving the pose information*to text documents inside the project file and then loading them back up upon reopening the pose saver window. However python reads the commands as a string and Maya cant see the commands inside.
However I’ve almost cracked it, just need a little more time. Some other functionality I want to add is being able to: Save poses of either the entire rig or just the selected controls, loading pose files from external sources, and can I have the characters pose but keep him/her/it in the same general location.*
For example, a simple walk pose. Left step, right step and the key poses in between.
Can I save those poses for rapid reuse, but still keep the character in the same location?*
Or do I not need to worry, since its not hard to select the controls that move the charters location.**( Not talking about the global controller, just *the IK controls, Center of gravity etc. )
