Nice layout! I feel can be stronger by giving it a more dynamic look. But i not sure how to go about describing the dynamic look. But like more curves and more swirls in the layout. Jiayou!
Steampunk Myths and Legends Entry: Vincent Lim
U have enhance the pose of Nezha and its look more nicer than the previous one.
I notice a few things, maybe some little suggestions. I noticed the eye of the dragon is too close to the edge of composition, resulting a bit tangent uncomfortability so move him into the left a bit might helps. The middle part of the Dragon tail seems to be in an uncomfortable composition with Nezha and as well the upper right of the screen, is becoming a bit heavy on lower left and empty on upper right, maybe can try to have lesser visual on the screen for the middle tail part. I am just trying to help out with the composition, hopefully u can achieve perfect for a great piece of artwork.
Well deserved praise on your effort and challenges, Gambate:buttrock:
Great concepts work. I agree I like the larger dragon it makes for a more david vs goliath scenario.
JackZhang Thanks for dropping by:) Good luck to you as well bro:)
wildcory1 Thanks. I like the larger dragon too:)
Hey bro,
I love the idea and design of Nezha! Just some comments on the composition, with regards to the dragon in particular, which I hope you will find it helpful:
-
I agree with hangkwong about needing more “curves” in the composition. You can do that by making use of the dragon’s body. In fact if you have not finalised the concept for the dragon, I’d suggest you can use elements from the chinese mythological dragon. They have long and slender body that swirls around. Make his body swirls round nezha more, such that the whole situation will look more intense and more “life threatening” to Nezha. At the moment, it gives me the impression that this dragon is not fierce enough, and so there’s a lack of tension in the situation. You can also fill up more of the empty spaces by making the dragon swirls a few more rounds, around Nezha.
-
I suggest you show the claws of the dragon. Not only will that give you more elements to play with for the composition, it will also make it more threatening to Nezha and create more tension. Also open his mouth wider, the idea is to make him look more fierce and more offensive.

At the moment, Nezha has a very distinctive oriental style but not so for the dragon. So I think using a chinese mythological dragon will also help to enhance its look and feel. It will make the whole theme looks tighter.
Hope the suggestion help!
hi, Vincent Lim.
great concept as well as modeling.
I like the final, but the one in the middle is not bad in terms of the layout.
cheers.
kenTHEman Hi there! It has been quite some times since i see you:) Thanks for the comments. I agree with point number 2 having the scene more life threatening. Actually I use the dragon as a placeholder. I will turn that dragon to a more steampunk junk look rather than a fleshy chinese dragon:p About having more swirls… hmm… i don’t know about that becos it may look kinda messy in the scene? haha i will put in down on paper to test it out:)
paratrooper Thanks for dropping and giving me some comments:) I don’t understand which middle you are refering to:P Can you please elaborate:P Anyway your entry look really cool!!
yoooo bitchent !!
love the no.2 and 3 design dude…
looking good so far… keep fockus man !! hahaha…
Yo Vicenzo, I am certainly going for the 3rd design. The costume I feel had to Goddess and elegance, that’s mean a lot of details in the costume especially the colour variation. Go Go Go!:buttrock:
Thanks for the support guys!
I’m still working on the overall composition and working on the costume at the same time. Seems like this constant changes are going crazy:argh: But i guess thats the fun part, trying to make the best out of it:)
cheers guys
Nice work so far. I don’t have a choice between the three, it depends on the girly touch you want to add or not to your character
Thanks for dropping by authentic. I’m choosing the most right design:) According to the myth, Nezha was reborn from lotus roots. So in the design i gave some elements of lotus flower design combine with steampunk victorian style.
Nice work so far Vincent. I like the scenes with the dragon, that will turn out great
As for the costumes, I also like the third one. Whenever I think of Nezha, I always picture the 2 golden hoops and the lotus petals on the costume. The third costume option you have is the only one that features those 2 iconic symbols. It’s the most feminine (though Nezha is a boy originally right?) and intricate as well. Keep up the good work!

The start of the dragon is just excellent. I just don’t know if it will be recognizable if you see it from too far. Anyway in close up that’s great.

how do u guys feel?
