Thanks Theresa!
Yeah Martinwe’ll see if I’ve learned anything useful there or not
Since you live in Athens aheminUSAandnotingreece, any myth based in Athens would be great for you. How about Oedipus? Great story there!
Good idea… or something about Odysseus. Though I’m going to try and avoid greenscreen shots if I can and I can’t see a way around having them on a massive airship.
TREATMENT
In an attempt to acheive world domination an Evil Scientist discovers that by purchasing a physical piece of a living human you gain some power over them. Unable to buy things from adults he invents a system for purchasing teeth from little children who are more than willing to part with them for a few pennies from a ‘magical’ person.
This is not the Scientist’s first crime nor indeed his first attempt at world domination and there is a detective hot on his trail. As the Scientist is nearing his goal of collecting X number of teeth the Detective catches up to the Scientist and confronts him, averting disaster. He destroys the huge collection of teeth breaking the ‘contract’ and freeing the children.
From that day forward parents have continued the story of the tooth fairy and give their children money or sweets in exchange for their teeth so no one else could ever gain power over their children.
The Legends
Ideas regarding the tooth fairy were generated from numerous sources including dozens of articles online dealing with the origins of the mythical character and Terry Pratchett’s The Hogfather. Rituals surrounding what to do with lost baby teeth span the globe and go back many centuries.
The idea of power or control being exerted over the children comes from the legend that witches could curse you if they got ahold of a fingernail or clipping of hair.
Version 5 of our script is nearly donePushing things toward a 35 minute short film with a complete story arc.
Thanks simjoythats what I’m working on next. Wanted to knock out the style and direction in sketch form first.
