Here’s a quick concept. This is Uam Baoz, a half man, half octopus creature from Japanese folklore.

Here’s a kelp forest WIP. I’m playing around with the lighting to get the correct underwater mood. I think it also needs some floating particulates, some variation in the sand, more caustics, and a little sway in the kelp stalk. All crits welcome.

Yes, everything you mentioned will surely help. Although judging from your concept the send won’t even be visible to camera so there’s no point in wasting your time on it :slight_smile: Unless you decide to change view.
This half man, half octopus creature sounds very interesting. I wonder how you gonna make it steam-punkish :slight_smile:

This is the character I made in XSI and imported into Mudbox. Still have a lot of work to do.

Here is some sculpting. I’m not sure if I like it, but I’ll do some texturing first to see how it looks.
