Steampunk Myths and Legends Entry: Stephanie Alison Everett
Hi there! I’m entering for fun and some motivation to do something extra after work. Steampunk is a great subject and I love working on it. I have had the great fortune to be working on a steampunk fantasy style game so this should be really fun to test how my skills have developed in that area over the last year.
Meet Duragon, a steam dragon made by an old wizard tinkerer to protect his hoard of machines and wizardry knowledge. The old wizard has long since passed but he still guards the hoard faithfully over the years. Now as he starts to rust away, he protects his most valuable treasure. A Dragon-steam-egg.
I need to doodle him some more to get the shapes down. Will post more soon. I need to get cracking!
Here is a bit of a shaky refinement of the head details. Next I need to figure out the body and how the head will attach itself to it >.<
Good work…really different. I am looking forward to see this come up.
I would like to see this cute guy lonely away from his creator…as he was deserted, U know those look from the eyes (like the Puss from SHrek)…heheh
Good luck!
Thanks Mrpeace! I’m not sure if i can use that myth because I cant find anything to support it in history
I might have to use Beowulf’s dragon instead. I dont know, I’ll see how it goes
I like the puss in boots eyes idea. So cute!
I did some more sketches to solidify the idea of his torso and legs, I think I’m going to make him a proper 4 legged dragon. The wings will have to be thought out as well.
I’m tossing up between the old rusting dragon, and the dragon from Beowulf who was guarding his hoard of treasure and the goblet that the servant stole to please Beowulf.
My start on the 3D model. I started with the head as that is the most solid (and fun) part of the concept.
Also, I prepared myself some gadgets that were in the concept. Cogs of different sizes, pistons, pumps, chimneys and rivets/screws.
I want to get the base over and done with ASAP for texturing and touch ups in Zbrush. No time to loose!
