i looked into some of your myths and i have to say really cool choices. i would love to see you develop any of em.
Steampunk Myths and Legends Entry: Simon Bull
Like the look of the start that you have gone for!
BTW…I went to RMIT too…only I did architecture!
Good Luck Mate!
yay for rmit…
think im gonna do both philosopher’s stone and pied piper at the same time then
see which one works out the best…
they are kinda very different themes so its should
be fun to do them both…
i also might enter the video section by myself if i get time…but dont know about that one
wont be updating for a few days as ive got work and after work fun planned.
maybe…
hey there! I was thinking of red ridding hood for a moment as well
that should be a nice image so I’d really love to see it being developed! Im voting for RRH
best of luck buddy!
Hey Simon,
You have great concepts and like a lot that you explore many ideas, is a great journey for sure
Like a lot your Hecatonchires concept, awesome work. Can´t wait to see your next stage on your concept
( oh, and you are on video challenge too?? That is insane man
but you have great talent :)) Cheers mate!
all right im gonna do Hecatonchires.
ive finally got the image perfect in my head…i hope to have a concept image done
tonight over a few beers…should be sweet.
I might not enter the vid contest as ive broken my pro-sumer video camera and
i wanted to do do some cg onto live plates…
ill work on the image contest first and then see how i go for the vid one…but ive got
the idea for that too now…its been a busy few days just thinking up what i wanna do…
now the hard parts done its all just labor from here…so expect some updates
ok this is kinda what im thinking…
huge Hecatonchires on the background messing up the city…
he will be steam machine looking…
ill be making him in cg then doing a paint over…
cute chick in the front running away from the havoc being unleashed behind her…
prob some other people as well running about and stuff…
prob wont use the chick that ive got in there in the concept…need mega cute chick
as thats what CGtalk always loves…lol
I think that the friend Hetachantonca…Hecatonchires
has many possibilities to become a great image =)
Love the idea, but I think you could really push the perspective a whole lot more to give it a more epic feeling. CGTalk likes epic.
thx for all the comments ppls.
yeah paperclip ill be doing the whole “epic CGtalk look” shot once i get the style down…lol
Getting the style down? You just need huge mountains, someone screaming ‘NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!’ to the void and towering clouds.
Oh- and don’t forget the gigantic beast galloping at full speed towards the hero (who is standing bravely with his spear pointing in the correct direction)…
On second thoughts…that sounds like something for MY thread…dibs on that idea.
just playing around…
next ill prob play around some more…hahah
but ive gotta make the dood in 3d…so ill prob get to that next…its just been fun painting…havnt done it for a while…too much cg stuff recently
Interesting Myth, Simon, one I’d vaguely heard of but wasn’t really familiar with… Cool! I look forward to seeing how you combine 2D with 3D for this entry. Compositionally, everything important right now is shoved over to the left side. You might want to think about how to spread out the points of interest more. And it looks less like the Hecatonchires is threatening a city like you mentioned, just one screaming girl (which makes the scope of the piece a bit less grandiose.) Anyhow, just some thoughts… Good luck and have fun!
I agree with warlus. the weight of the image lean towards left way too much. the body of the monster hardly balance it out. I’m thinking locate the head of the monster at power point 1, looking down from left up to bottom right. Let the girl fill up power point 4 and looking back into the monster.
My humble rusty two cents~
yeah i wanted to pick something different…hehehe
dont stress the layout will all be changed…
as i said before this is just getting the concept down…
expect my usual madness from here on in…
the reason i do stuff in 3D first is to get the perspective how i wnt it…easy to change the camera and all that…
then ill jump into the real painting which is my forte…
jacky jack jack…
dont worry.
as i said to the walrus fish eating friend ill be doing a different composition…
think what paperclip and me were talking about…we need epic!!
and dood link ya steampunk to ya signature so i can get to it better
after looking at this for a while it so looks like the chick is strolling…
“just out for a morning walk…oh…whats this behind me…”
lol…
makes me laugh…
as i said dont worry it will change
Nice idea man.Indeed the composition needs a bit more work maybe but can’t wait to see your next steps!Good luck mate!
interesting stuff man! ace.
yeah would be cool to open it up a bit.
… still can’t stop thinking about the little red riding hood idea! could be super groovy
