Decided to do a steam punk version of snow white- where the witch presents the poison apple. These are some scanned images from various sketch pages and napkins where I was playing with the concept.

Hey Shawn! Great concept! I really like the mechanical legged witch! For some reason I prefered the first pose you had for Snow White, with her right hand up, kinda surprised expression on her face. The head studies also are great, it’s fun to see this classic story re-told in such a different style! Looking forward to following your thread!

i agree, the concept sketches are looking really great, can’t wait for an update!

nice choice of characters! really like snowhite skintones and what you did with the whitch so far!

Decided to use Zbrush for this one. I want to intergrate some zbrush into a project for my day job, and I figured this project will be my trial run for the technique. Its going good, but with only 24 days left and the holidays, it will be a close call…

quick render of witch model- now on to girl.

this looks so cool!

Pose test with witch and snow white…

suggestions?

Now that the modelings are well underway, I wanted to step back ant take another look at the illustration on the whole. Just seeing the renders posed together had me worried that the image was going to lack the drama it needed to be compelling. But, that’s why god said “LET THERE BE LIGHT!” Well… actually its more shadow I’m looking for.

Sense I’m lacking that ‘action’ pose I need some pretty dramatic light/coloring to set this baby off. I’m digging on the mood this sketch gives off though. A nightime snow scene a fairly simply backdrop of a few trees (thus allowing the emphasis on the figures).
