Ok so my idea is to paint Jesus turning water into wine (hence the title… John 2:1-11). My best friend who has also entered the contest came up with the idea of doing a biblical story and I thought that was a really great idea so I kind of ripped him off and chose a bible story of my own (thanks esemiel). I’ve read up on the water into wine story and wanted this picture to be more lonely with Jesus by himself instead of at a party. This is my first rough sketch so far. I was concentrating on the composition to start and just roughly blocked out the bg and where I want to put Jesus in the foreground. I’ll probably work on line art next.
Thanks for looking, I’d love to hear what you think!

Its an interesting idea, but you might want to put some thought in to whether this falls into the jurisdiction of the Challenge’s religious regulations.

I think Christ is a pretty risky subject, no matter the tone of the piece, as he is still actively worshiped. Remember, there are a *lot* of people who dont consider anything Jesus did to be fictional, or mythological in the slightest, and while one might not agree, there are rules in place for the Challenge to avoid any potential trouble in this regard.

I think theres a lot of material in the Old Testament that could be mined, but anything in the New Testament is kind of dicey as far as the rules go.

It was just the first thing that leapt to my mind when I saw your subject, but I’m no kind of authority. You’ll have to decide for yourself.
