Steampunk Myths and Legends Entry: Sabrina Bott

That’s call “EUROPE” :wise:

no frontier… just language barrier :scream:

#122

is He the scubadiver of Lemog ?

#123

No Gilles… only his brother

#124

Ahh - that is some great updates now! I really like the diver and lady watching eachother - an unfulfilled romance perhaps? You could give her a diary and a sad look, very victorian
And now it’s already much better waterfeeling, this is really coming on well. May I wish for some plants in the room? Like an underwater greenhouse.
As usual in this stage of the challenge I find everyone elses projects much more fun than my own - yours being one of the most interesting!

I like this! A couple questions. I like the reflections on the right side wall-- but I am trying to place the circle in the reflection… Was the reflection added by the 3d or you? Is the circle from the ship on the left?

Also, I don’t know if you did it intentionally  but as I look at the image I keep thinking move closer… or why are they so distant from each other? Did he just show up and she is surprised and hasn’t had time to respond? Is he holding her prisoner in this place and she doesn’t much like him? Is he here to rescue her? My mind is running way too much.

Did I miss the story line? I gazed through the post… I think I’m too tired right now, I shouldn’t stay up so late! lol Either way-- after all my rambling, I am really excited to see your end image!

Good Morning!

Kinanh, I’ve missed your post for my last reply here, sorry!

At the moment the scene is not really textured and I’ve payed not much attention to a proper lighting, this will all come later…and then you should get the underwater feeling, and of course the colour should be more greenish-blue also in the hall…Thanks for your visit!

Lolo,

that’s a nice summary I guess, good that we can talk with pictures here!

Gilles,

is He the scubadiver of Lemog ?

Hehe, as Lolo already said it’s only a family likeness:D …you can have a closer view at him with the next update!

Morning Gunie, good to hear that you like the direction I’m going, and yes, some plants for the hall are a great idea, already noted on the wishlist…

As usual in this stage of the challenge I find everyone elses projects much more fun than my own - yours being one of the most interesting!
Ah, so nice to hear this, but that’s a totally subjective feeling I share the other way round:scream: : for me it’s more exiting to see your 2d/3d-mix coming together…

Hi Aaron, I’ve placed some lightsources along the hall and made them invisible - what you see are the physical correct reflections of these lights. Later I have to model some lamps and adjust the lighting, so that it will make more sense…The positions of the characters are mainly a result of composition thoughts, but of course they should also establish a “relationship” …perhaps I make it more clearer when I refine the characters, but I guess it’s a good thing to leave some things in a picture open for speculations…more interesting this way, don’t you think!

I’ve planned to make my diver a little more “steampunky” today, I’ll show the progress later!

Wish you all a nice day!

#127

cool can`t wait to see this :wip: keep going

#128

It’s also the goal here, no ? :scream:

Much work planed this next week end ?

#129

I’m also very much looking forward to the steampunk diver! Are the pose for your characters near what you want in the finished image, or are you going to change them a lot? If so, what poses are you gonna go for?

Keep us updated!

#130

Tony, not much to see yet from the little diver, but I show it anyways, can’t resist your “Keep going”!

Lolo,

It’s also the goal here, no ?
of course, only pictures, no smalltalk, no spamming around here:D …
Weekend is always for family, so no CG at all is planned, but as usual I’m very slowly here, so maybe a little less sleep and pushing some pixels instead:hmm: …

Hey Christopher, yes, something similar to the pose you see is planned, but I’ll rig the characters to be a little more flexible here and adjust them later:wise: …

Okay, I had no time for my diver, but I can show the concept and what I have so far…

Wish you all a nice weekend!:wavey:

the style for the helmet is pretty much clear, the real ones look already cool and for the suite I’ve planned first a kind of complete armour, but meanwhile I have the idea of fabric ( something like old, dark leather) and only parts of metal…wouldn’t make much sense of course for deep sea diving, but somehow I like the idea…all suggestions are welcome!

#132

nice… really very nice I like how the helmet looks so far :bounce: …keep going :wip:

#133

Hey Sabrina, I meant to say earlier how much I liked the impression of looking up at the surface of the water and waves. That was very clever and the effect you managed to get was wonderful. It’s great to see the diver taking form now too. Maybe a few big bolts and an old-fashioned switch/lever lock/unlock on the helmet will enhance his steampunkiness as you progress with him, and rather than a single air tube perhaps you could add an extra tube or two, to bring out the low-tech, slightly inefficient steampunk look. You could even put some slight gear-wheel cogs around his helmet seal (or maybe that would look like unnecessary decoration) These are just ideas for the metal bits of course - I have no doubt you’ll do something really special. I really like your idea of having most of the suit made of a leathery cloth

#134

looking good Sabrina  :buttrock:

#135

I like the perpective better now. A lot of potential with this composition me thinks.
Cant wait for more updates.
Have a nice weekend Sabrina

#136

nice …really nice

can i barrow this sentence And Use it “Keep Goinggggggggggggggggggggggggg

#137

Everything is looking great. I love the old style driver suit, very cool. So Lemog is talking about using a fish eye lens type look?

#138

That explains  I knew there was something I was missing! I can’t wait to see the finished product… I know I’ve said. I can’t wait to see the characters come to life now. And yes, a little curiosity as to what is happening in an image is great! And I don’t think we have to worry about being left totally in the dark, I’m sure you’ll add in some clues to what is going on as you progress.

#139

Hey Sabrina nice update. I agree with mdavid, rightnow its in a wip stage, but later you can add details and give him a little steam punkish look:)

#140

Yay Sabie !

Again a lot of great progress here. The new camera angle is better me think , although the PS sketch of Laurent works pretty well , maybe a bit to much … Maybe a mix between those 2 ?

And great start with the diver … the metal parts could do the steampunk work … although everything’s allowed … maybe a deep sea diver riding a bike (is this the strange behavior challenge ? )

anyhow , Have a great week Sabie !

cheers ,

-Stéph
