Steampunk Myths and Legends Entry: Sabrina Bott

#201

I’m stamping my feet in approval here, Sabrina. Great update. The curved look works beautifully. I think I prefer the horizontal look too, although like Gunilla said, the surface of the water (seen more clearly in the vertical view) is so good I’d be encouraging you to keep as much of that as is possible.

There is a lot to love about how this image is already looking. The school of fish is superb and the hint of structures and land forms visible in the watery distance makes an intriguing and delightful addition. Definitely no crits from me. I love it!

Hey Sabrina,

The two image looks really great  Like a lot the school of fish, cool !!
The image gain a lot of deep with the submerged buildings on the background. Maybe I prefer the horizontal format, but think you need to go for a more wider frame ( you can scale the vertical axis of the second image ( the horizontal format)on photoshop, to get an idea of how much you need to widen your image, or not  ) Again, really awesome work !!

Morning!

Hi Tony, great to know that the story will work for you, so I keep going with it!

Hey James,

will be quite cool to see her with luggage and stuff!

thanks for the encouragement! I’m not so much worried about the luggage, but already nervous about the “stuff”:scream: - vehicle design is not exactly my strong side, so I hope I haven’t promised too much!

Thanks Roshan, good to hear this!

Morning Per, atm it’s only the hint of an environment, other glass structures are a good idea, I’ll see what I can do with the background to make it more interesting!

Hello Christopher,

Humm, what kind of propulsion device will you come up with! I’m intrigued!
As I’ve said, this makes me already nervous myself:D , let’s see, and this will also be the next step - atm I try to sketch something… And your right of course with the deformation of the characters, it was a quick render and I think it would be possible to fix this…Thanks for your visit!

Hi Jim, thanks and yes, you have a good point here - many vertical components and there will be even more in the background…

Morning Gunie, great to hear that you like the update:) - and I guess I can keep a view to the suface also in the horizontal format…thanks for taking the time to comment!

Hey Mark, so another vote for the wide format, and thanks for the lovely comments, you always cheer me up:) !

He Fernando, big thanks again for pushing me in the right direction, the curved structure works much better now:thumbsup: ! And I’ve also thought of making the format more extrem, depends on the stuff I still have to add…

Thanks all for the feedback, really helpful for my decision…next step is to find a design for the vehicle, I hope to show some ideas soon.

Wish you all a nice day!

-sabrina

Hello Sabie…

ouf… I’m back a little after 3 days out… great to see much work here

Yes… I prefer the vertical image… really good…
the curver corridor is great idea… it just be too much centered in the image, more at left could work fine,
and could give more space for the action between peoples and sea environment.
Nice day for you

#205

Hi Lolo, good to see you back, I hope the week was successfull and also the party of course:beer: …I see what you mean with the centered perspective, I’ll have to play a little more when everything is in place…

I’ve started a quick construction sketch for my vehicle, after some trying I decided that it has to be something delicate, that fits with the iron and glass framework of the hallway - and about time for some steam and gears here…

-sabrina

#206

The start of a steam-trike or coach construction, couldn’t think of something more victorian from the idea…so far just the outline to see what I have to do and if it fits well in the hallway…

#207

looks cool Sabrina I also like the gears u have behind the wheels keep going :wip:

#208

Waouw… great vehicule… I want the same for Mr. Noah :applause: huhu
very well started… totally in the mood !

About my last sentence, I said that because for me the end of the corridor is almost centered in the scène… more at left and maybe cutted by the framing permit to visually save place for action…

And about my week and especially about the expo inauguration, I will try to post some photos soon on the expo thread…

Nice start of week for you Sabie :wavey:

#209

The steam trike is awesome! Its like a Model T crossed with an old time bicycle. Is the steam pipe connected to the big barrel thing in the back? You could push the size difference in wheels even more, if its Victorian based.

#210

Hey,Sabrina.
Looking great.

#211

Great looking trike Sabrina. I love the toon render to. It sort of gives a different and sharper look than regular rendering. Maybe you should put outlines on the rest as well.
This thing might really steam up the windows in there though.

#212

Wow - great looking vehicle, very steampunky!

#213

Yep, those little vehicles look wonderful. No crits from me

#214

Hey Sabrina! Nice start to the vehicle! It sure is true to the theme! Nicely done! And I also really love that different “outline” render that you used to present it. Looking forward to seeing your model evolve, because right now that bench is looking really uncomfortable!

#215

Aaah, third date, what do you know!?

On the serious side, that’s a great looking vehicle, and I like the outlined render, clever
touch!
Adding this to the scene and in the hallway will definitely change the sensation, hopefully
to the better!
I’m sure you will finally find the best cam angle and format, just rely on your senses!
What makes it work for me, in situations like this, I assign a lambert to everything, and
trace the lines in ps, then print it out and start considering the comp on a completely 2d
level! I guess removing the confussion of depth and colors helps me find a suitable format
for the final composition, well, in most cases!

Nice day for you!

#216

Hey Sabrina, cool looking steam coach. I look forward to see this evolve with more gears and mechanical stuff.
I too have trouble with my comp but I m sure yours will come out really nicely.
Go on

#217

Nice nice work Sabrina, a steam trike is a great idea.

#218

Good Morning !

Hey Tony, again the first here, thanks and glad that you like the idea!

Morning Lolo, yes, I understand well what you’ve said before about the centered hallway…

Waouw… great vehicule… I want the same for Mr. Noah
no problem, sent him over for a test-ride!

And about my week and especially about the expo inauguration, I will try to post some photos soon on the expo thread…
Photos?..I’m waiting!:bounce:

Hi Nathan, nice to have you here for a visit! The steam pipe is not connected yet, but I’m working on the details right now…and the wheels and gears stuff is so far the only thing I’m not eager to change:scream: , it took me a while to model and adjust it in a way it could really work…

Hi Corrie, thanks… and where is you’re thread now, I’m waiting:deal: !

Good Morning and thanks Per! Yeap, I like this render style especially for some quick illustrations, it shows some details without much bothering with material and lighting…

This thing might really steam up the windows in there though.
Huh, I haven’t thought of this…but it’s such a small boiler and a huge hallway:p …

Hey Gunie and Mark, thank for the visits!

Hi Christopher, oh yes, the bench… I’ll take care of a more comfortable seating…thanks from the potential driver for pointing this out!

Hey Mathias,

Aaah, third date, what do you know!?
Huh? But in this case of course an especially cheerful"Hello and thanks" for you!:wavey:

Hi Fotis,

I too have trouble with my comp …
Hah, I’m sure your model will look marvelous from each and every point of view, so don’t worry…As always thanks for your nice words here, much appreciated!

Hi Jim, glad you like the vehicle, thanks!

Just now I’m in a kind of “only-1-week-until-Xmas” panic:scream: …so many things to finish before… and so my progress here is really slow, I hope to show a little update later…

-sabrina

#219

Just starting with some detailing, taking special care of the drivers comfort first…

#220
