Here’s one of the several compositions I’ve messed with. It’s a classic and simple pose but it
s classic for a reason, it works.

#3

This was my original thought, suppose I should clarify, I’m doing the old Norse Valkery, and combining that with the Rime/ice giants of the mythos. I know there are some compositional problems here with the wings obscuring the giants, but those can be fixed.

#4

More compositions, this one would be poised with a stone mechanical rune stone for the back ground…

#5

A more cinematic feeling In this one, the only problem is it may be a little tricky to portray the “steamPunk” aspect without adding cyborgs or “steamborgs” if you will. I do like the dynamic feeling too this.

#6

I really like this one, and unlike the last one I think we’re close enough to the main character to make her a “steampunk” figure.

#7

This one is less of a compositional study and more of a character study. I like the image but I feel it falls short of the goal. It lacks something, it’s too safe.

#8

I think this one is my favorite, the character will have to be the main “steampunk” flavour, although the rune stone will also be punk’d. This combining of myths and a somewhat vague “steampunk” theme is tricky, trying to balance the two and not lean one way or the other. Comments are most welcome, I’m really rather undecided on which way to go.

The first and the last one are good. Maybe you should add more steampunk elements. I like that the clear colors can create a beautiful effect when combined to the metal of the wings and the shield.

#10

first and last are best… think i would go with last but it needs somethomg. can; wait to see you add the steampunk stuff because it certainly not steampunk yet. will be watching this one

Thanks for the reply, you’re both right there is very little steampunk to most of the images. I’ve done a ton of research as to what is steampunk, I’ve found the genre rather vague, If there is no machine then to define the character as such you really need clothing from the 1880’s to 1920’s or so. The clothing period is somewhat incongruant with “action female” type characters, and I don’t want to simply slap a top hat and a pair of gogles on her. I’m going to try and melde the clothing period with the myth period and see what I come up with

comp 5 is good!

#13

Thanks, I’m also fond of that one, it’s very dynamic

#14

Decided on this concept, and now the work begins
