Steampunk Myths and Legends Entry: Péter Sárhidai
Okey after a few days of brainstorming and thinking … I got the idea.
I’ll make a flying mechanical steampunk island … I know i know it’s sick
I’ll make strange houses on it with strange people, trees, cars …etc. The island itself will bee flying with steam engine …
I would like too place some ballons near to it … they help the island to navigate…
There are many small details that I have in my mind but for now … this is enough.
i hope you get the basic idea. I didn’t had time to draw and make a sketch, here comes the weekend hopefully I can make it. To understand more my idea I’ll post some pictures that I downloaded from google fo reference.
Idea of my island …
I’ll change several things
it’s just a picture from google just to get the idea…
That’s an original idea! There is a anime movie called “Steamboy” directed by katsuhiro otomo.
They show a flying steam propulsed castle at the end of the movie. Maybe you can get some ideas from that.
Good luck!
I do like the feeling one gets from the inspiration images - looking forward to seeing how it develops :wip:
I’m finding it hard to comment because I’m not sure what legend/myth your basing your art off of. What’s the story that you are using?
Okey let me sleep a little … :d
then in the morning I’ll tell my story about this …
And I think everything gets cleaner when I start to model things… My drawings skills are not the best
Okey … maybe the story was not so obvious. You know I have a picture annd any ideas in my head, it takes time to clear things up.
Today I dived into a bunch of books … and one of my favorit sites… the good old wikipedia.
To my suprise there are many books, novels, films that features a flying, floating island.
There is also a very good defination.
Floating island: in fiction (sometimes called a flying island), is a fictitious landmass that either floats in a body of water or flies above the surface of the earth or in some cases through the depths of space, defying gravity.
I would like to list a few books that contains flying islands : - Homer’s: The Odyssey
- C. S. Lewis:Perelandra
- The Voyages of Doctor Dolittle
- The Life of PiOr other stuff like the Gorillaz music video for Feel Good Inc.which features one of the band members on a windmill-powered floating island, a floating island is commonly used in Japanese anime as a metaphor for childish idealism and naiveté.
So if you think there are tons of stories for flying islands… I didn’t mentioned any Japan anime because than i have to sit here and write for days.
I don’t want to copy things I’m just getting my inspiration from these things mixing with Steampunk art. I would like to make my own story based on these stuff in this post and everything that I posted so far.

Huh

your Idea Is Coooooooool…
Iam interesting To See The Next Step…
Good Luck…
