Latest Update: Work In Progress: Steamgoat Head WIP

#2

I’m not much of a concept artist, so this is more like a guideline for shapes and sizes, much of the ornaments and smal gadgets will be added in the process

For those wondering - I’m after some Steaming Nordic Thundergod, riding on his goat pulled chariot and wielding a fearsome hammer

So, this one is pretty far from viking/nordic feel… but it’s a WIP anyway.

great! Another steampunk animal  Good concepts btw… good luck

#4

Ah, I see what you mean - similar animal concepts! Looking at your leg designs they’re similar to what I’ve come up with, so it’ll be interesting to see how we go with our steamers

Great work, btw. Like your style.

A little more work on the head details, Just to clear some wonders about the whole ornating of the goat.

Btw digging into detail is beginning to remind me the deadline is not so far way… so I hope I’ll manage completing it… we’ll see anyway

Nice  Good luck…

#7

…just some more shapes and sizes

#8

I’m not yet sure, the sketch colors are more distinctive than final for now, but as for I’m after a viking theme may be some patina-treated copper, iron, some bronze… still pondering anyway…

Btw I’ll really appreciate some thoughts about the concept, because I’m still not happy with it…

Hi Nikolay,
That steampunk goat looks great.
Maybe you should make a concept sketch to look for the final image.
Waiting for more updates.
Keep it up and good luck.

Some efforts on the final composition. Here it is - Ragnarok - the final battle, and the clash of Thor and Jormungandr.

#12

I’m sort of stuck in conceptual stage, so I decided to begin with the modeling of the goats. Also here is a small test of an aged bronze shader, and I think it’s beginning to look nice

#13

Hey looking good, and a fresh concept. All I would say is that you should try to avoid that ‘meshsmooth’ look as much as possible. The nasal slots on the head render are affected by this. Otherwsie it’s looking very promising, good luck

#14

Really nice work so far…keep it up! Few more nuts and bolts would not matter!

#15

The last render is very nice looking and the concept sketches are promising…i also like the composition of the final look…perhaps if you lower the view and make it more closer to the main characters you will achieve more susspense in your image, just a suggestion…however you have great work so far, good luck and have fun in that challenge.

#16

I really liked your work.

Great work so far Azrail. The modeling and the shader on the goats head are looking awesome. Good luck. Hey what software do you use?

#18

10x guys

soapy - the software is Maya)

I like the posing, the theme and the mood. Regarding what others have said about the legs on animals, maybe it’s because legs are a “design” that tends highly to the “form follows function” motto, that’s why to look realistic they have to be like…IMHO, hehe. I would love to see the design on the hammer and the “norse god’s” armor!
