Hey all!

great challenge and great to see so many people having fun! … and what a challenge, probably the greatest most inspiring and awesome topic ever! :smiley: - I’ve allways wanted to join in on one of these ever since I first saw machineflesh years ago.

Myth I’m gonna tackle is about a huge tree called Yggdrasil - the tree of life in nordic mythology. Its roots and branches covers the three realms of man, gods and giants aswell as the underworld, Hel, and the sky. The tree is under constant attack by a dragon named Nidhög who tries to gnaw the roots and kill the tree. There is a squirrel called ratatosk that acts as a messenger between the dragon in the underworld and the eagle up at the tree’s top.

There’s much to paint… giant steampunk dragons or eagles are allways cool… and a huge steampunk tree covering the entire world is even cooler.

Some concepts up at a later date! looking forward to see what people come up with these coming weeks!

Here’s the standing version of same piece, modified in photoshop. Gonna be tough to decide on which one to go with… damnit, might end up with something completeley different in the end.

Keep at it! inspiration will definitely come… I got lucky cause I’ve been thinking of myths, especially this one for quite some time - and now I get the oportunity to draw it! :smiley:

Hello guys, sorry for not posting anything. I’ve been busy with school and life… not much left over for this :frowning:

I’ve begun to think of another myth with the huge serpent circling the world, midgårdsormen. Will try to have some concepts up and kicking during the weekend :slight_smile:

Started working on the challenge again. I’ve been on a long hiatus when it comes to art in general. Both sketching and painting.

But now with christmas holidays started I’m going to spend a week with family and just take it easy, “lick my wounds”.

Colored some to get back on track :slight_smile: Wish you all a great weekend and enjoy the holidays.
