Steampunk Myths and Legends Entry: Milica Acimovic
Edited: double post because of the internet problems.
Selene:
In Greek mythology, Selene was an archaic lunar deity. The etymology of Selene is uncertain, but if the word is of Greek origin, it is likely connected to the word selas, meaning “light”.
Selene is generally depicted as a beautiful woman with a pale face, riding a silver chariot pulled by a yoke of oxen or a pair of horses. Often, she has been shown riding a horse or bull, wearing robes and a half-moon on her head and carrying a torch. Essentially, Selene is the moon goddess but is literally defined as ‘the moon’.
Basic idea of Selena’s carriage. Plus, she doesn’t need bulls or horses to pull it because it’s all steampunk’d. I still think of details that I’ll add later.
Thank you for the comment Brian. :wavey: I’m glad you liked them even though they’re quite rough and I still need to figure out the face of Selena, because I can’t decide what expression she’ll have, once I put her in the carriage.
First image I had in mind. I want to give it more depth so I’ll definitely need to make moon smaller and move the carriage to the first plain. Colors are basically these but I might add changes (which I always do hehe) I already have another idea for the carriage position. Selena might have a half-moon ornament on her head but I’m reconsidering this one.
Off Topic:
Finally some spare time to actually see other entries and I wish all the entrants luck, and above all fun, fun, fun! in this challenge. It’s gonna be great from what I see. This is my first challenge ever and it made me think, observe and work on a different level and that’s what I like most about this challenge.
