I am really excited by this challenge. I want to finish this, but doubt the time will materialize for it.

Anyways, I am really considering the Greek myth of Charon. Taken from deathreference.com

Charon, in Greek mythology, acts as the ferryman of the dead. Hermes (the messenger of the gods) brings to him the souls of the deceased, and he ferries them across the river Acheron to Hades (Hell). Only the dead who are properly buried or burned and who pay the obolus (silver coin) for their passage are accepted on his boat, which is why in ancient Greek burial rites the corpse always had an obolus placed under his tongue. A rather somber and severe character, Charon does not hesitate to throw out of his boat without pity the souls whose bodies received improper burial or cremation.

I am envisioning a docking station for Hermes airship… maybe even docked unloading the dead… which adjoins Charon’s dock complete with ticketing station (the fee has to be paid somewhere) to ferry the dead to Hades.

Hermes could have a zeppelin, Charon perhaps Mississippi River type paddle-wheeler or steam assisted sail boat. Either was it will be a much larger ship than what is usually depicted in classic mythology.

Time to get sketching.

I think that my previous Legend was a bit to much to pull off. I am switching gears, so to speak, and now going with the legend of Paul Bunyan.

When Paul Bunyan grew up, he decided to become a lumberjack, because he could fell an entire forest with one swing of his axe. The other lumberjacks were glad for his help, since he made their work so much easier. They did have to feed him an awful lot, though. Paul Bunyan loved to eat, especially pancakes. One day, a woman came into the logging camp kitchen and asked the cook, “Why are those logs over there piled up to the ceiling?”

I envision this a bit different. Paul was actually a normal sized man who happened to have a large robotic exoskeleton that enabled him to work far faster than the other lumberjacks. Still need to come up with something good for Babe the Blue Ox.

My sketch concept for Paul’s Lumberjack Machine. I will flush out most of the details as i model.
