Latest Update: Concept / pre-visualization: Concept Sketch - Dwarf Character

Hi everyone,
This is my third post :bounce: i’m fresh blood to the forums and this is my first competition. So any help will be most appreciated. i Just found out about this comp and i couldn’t resist giving it a go.
I’m working on some scetches now, so hopefully i will have them posted soon. I’m nearly a week behind already  let me just say that, i want to depict a solitary dwarf, who has seen better days, alone in a foreign steam punk world, missing his homeland, looking down at his replacement steampunk limb/limbs (not sure yet) and drinking his sorrows away with his mug of ale :applause:
OK… so here is a very rough scetch of what i’m thinking, i haven’t had a pc for like a week so all i have been able to do is scetches. Now the catch up starts 50 days is still doable
anyways… instead of making it a steampunk world like i previously said, i’m toning it down a notch and making it a steampunk corridor
it will have steam pipes and cogs coming out of the walls and so on and so forth
This is another sketch of the corridor, i’m not the best sketcher so hang in there
i’ve just started modelling it so hopefully it will make a little more sense when i start posting some wireframe wip’s. Think of this corridor as the inside of and aluminium can with a bend deformer applied to it (kind of ^_^) the pipes will be running through this corridor carrying steam to power whatever else is on the outside. There will be some outlets so the steam can decompress which will make the room hazy.
Enter Mr Dwarf Hero dude
now this is going to be a toughy. This poor old gruff soul has been battle hardened and wounded deeply both physically and psychologically, in other words he’s down right depressed at the fact that he hasn’t seen his homeland in a long time, he has gravely been wounded and has had to undergo mechanical augmentations to allow him to still function and not be a vegetable. lol Thats what i got so far
what i’m not sure about though is the way in which i should portray him. Should i go with a battle kind of vibe andf make it like he is entering into this foreign strange corridor in search of treasure or glory (like a game kind of theme and feel) or should i stick with the depressed kind of bummed out ex-soldier leaning up against the corridor looking down at his mug of ale wishing that things were different (with like a whole gloomy atmosphere… i.e. dark, hazy corridor, dimly alluminated, he might be smoking a pipe which might be the only source of light) hmmm alot to think about, i’ll mock up some sketches and see where it takes me
