I knew this would be amazing. fantastic work!
Steampunk Myths and Legends Entry: Lior Arditi
This looks really terrific, Lior! Nice work! I have two suggestions for you:
First, I love the diffused, scattered light you have in the front of the stromboli-mobile, where the headlights are. It really makes the atmosphere seem misty and atmospheric. It would be nice to see you carry that atmosphere through the rest of the piece. What about pink light on the right coming from the circular lights on the side and bouncing off of the mist there? And orange by the smokestack?
Secondly, I confess to not knowing exactly how things work with the submitting of the final image, but I was always under the impression that the last final image is the one judges see. (Guess I’ll know soon.) Anyhow, to be safe, you might want to make sure that your final Final Image is your whole piece, not the close-up shot. You wouldn’t want to be judged on the wrong thing. (Or you could just confirm that it doesn’t matter - as I said, I’m not quite clear on it.)
Good luck, and nice work.
Womball, JackZhang: thanks guys. it’s nice to here your words.
dzygn: “Greatest Masterpiece around”? hmmm, my work? you must be kidding- take a look around- I am such a novice compared to all the pro’s around. but when it’s comes from a master like you it’s a huge compliment. I will be the first to read your tut if you’ll publish one- your technic for shading and coloring amazed me.
about my inspiration- my brainstorming is usually done while I’m riding the train on my way to work. usually, before starting a concept I put a lot of effort in reaserch- finding ref, ideas, and designs. the small details is what I am after- I try to give meaning to every object and symbol in the scene so it will help to support the big story.
walrus: Thanks man- you’ve been very help full along the way- it’s appreciated.
about your suggestions, it’s too late for changes buddy- I nearly killed my self not sleeping over this piece, while trying to run a normal life with two kids and a day job, and once the original deadline was over, I just moved on and decided to let go.
You are right about the atmosphere- some more job need to be done- maybe when I will gain some strengths.
about the final version- I hope the common sense of the judges will work, and a picture under the title “blowup details” with a low rez, will not be conceder as my final piece.
maybe it’s better of to make sure, and keep the informed.
Thanks again.
Lior
This is one of the most interesting entries I saw. Really nice , like it a lot!
The execution, colors, characters and theme… just fun to look at!
Congrats and good luck, lioration !
This is one of my favourite entries (from those that I’ve seen), I love the design of the characters, the atmosphere… everything!
thanks for inspiring us with this great artpiece
Sorry, Lior, I didn’t mean to scare you! I thought it was a legitimate concern, but glad to know you’re all taken care of! ![]()
(and yes, I know what you mean about the time crunch when you have a day job and kids, I’m right there with you!)
Congratulations for the final piece Lior! Your thread is one of the more interesting to watch, well crafted work in every aspect and a sweet fairytale look on the final
Good luck with the judge, you surely deserve that
wow! lior, thats amazing!
I like the idea and the process, the final resault is truly remarkable.
good luck!
Fantastic final image.
Congratulations!
It really seams that Pinocchio will be in real trouble.
yakonusuke -
Thanks dude!. I hope the lack of technical experience, is being balanced with the story telling skills…
elmasfeo -so glad to here my work inspires some of you guys. I do feel there is yet much to be done in here, compositing wise. I will probably get back to this one day for the final touch.
Bayaron -Don’t you Wow me mister!
walrus- Nothing to be sorry about, it’s been a useful concern (like always). didn’t scared me at all- it’s better to be safe the sorry. :arteest:
and about the time crunch- So happy I’m not alone in this- from what I saw around, I got the feeling that everybody here are careless, and free enjoy this challenge, with out being interrupted to channging dippers to a crting baby.
AUMAKUA- I tried to give my piece the feeling as if it was ripped out of the pages of a children book, but not the one you read to your kid before bed time.
Thanks for your feedback- it’s mean a lot to me.
Oz, Ilan, fabmoraes & itay- Thank you so very much.
Take care
Lior
“I tried to give my piece the feeling as if it was ripped out of the pages of a children book, but not the one you read to your kid before bed time.”
You definitely achieved this Lior !
Hi, lioration. Thanks again for your nice comment. I think your artwork also deserve it to be one of the finalists
I like the design of Stromboli with all the fine details, but also his main proportions are really interesting. I just can say: Great work.
This is definately one of favourite ones:) Im loving the solidness to the bridge an the how heavy the tank bit feels. I like the different hues around his metalic neck collar also. A very very nice finished piece. Well done:)
