Steampunk Myths and Legends Entry: Linda Smith

#20

I have been thinking and have this sketch of a mechanical rat lying around. So this is what I am going to do. I will be doing the Legend of the Pied Piper. This rat was my inspiration. I will get some concepts up soon

#21

Hi Linda,

Like your rat  I have been considering the same story at some point, it’s a good one. It will be very interesting to see what you will do with it.

And enjoyed very much your other steampunk thingies, specially the dragon and the Paddle Duck

#22

nice idea!!

#23

Thank you Sahsa, I am going to have fun with this one , all kinds of things going through my head for it. I just need to get the time to start.

hello monero  thankies

#24

like the concept, keep it up

#25

Hello Linda, long time no see!

Just wanted to wish you best of luck! I’m looking forward to seeing what you’re Pied Piper will look like!

#26

Hey Linda,

Cool sketch, love the gears on your rat, great design on it  Your idea sounds really great and cant wait to see more updates on your concept!

#27

I might go with a sea serpent of some sort. A very fast little scribble.

#28

I might change my mind here on what I want to do, still scribbling stuff in my sketch book. I probably should not post my scribbles ha ha, but that is just me :stuck_out_tongue:

Rico hi hi  Thank you so much for stopping by

Ferx I love your little tooth mousey  I did actually paint this particluar rat in another image a while ago, so I might not go with the pied piper idea. Still thinking…though I have been doodling on the rat a bit in photoshop, so might just keep him for myself when it is done

dragonflysh Thank you

#29

… and then I have this scribble too, was thinking of a pooka concept. I could have fun too with this one. I don’t know if I can get the horses legs right :stuck_out_tongue: I have a heck of a time with horses legs. Might be a good thing for me to do though for a learning experience.

#30

Hey nice concept for the Pooka, maybe combine two myths and stick a unicorn horn on it

#31

Key Linda,

Great pooka sketch, like a lot. Really nice pose, put a cool action note on the overall sketch, and the foreshort chain put a nice perspective touch… fantastic my friend  Cant wait to see more on your stuff ! Cheers!

#32

Thats a beauitful concept Linda, I love the horse design!

Cheers
Rupy

#33

This piece has a lot of potential. I love the metal shavings feel to the mane and tale. Wicked stuff.

#34

Looks great! the head of the horse its a little bit big in comparison with the body

#35

M477 - ha ha ha that is a possibility, thanks

Ferx - Thank you my friend  I might throw a few more ideas out and see which I want to complete for the challenge. I have scrapped the pied piper idea I could not quite get my head around the main character the way I wanted to. If I go with the pooka I will for sure add more chains

Rupy - Thank you so much

KolorGuild - Thank you , if I do this my idea for the main and tail will be like twisted wire or something along those lines, Tedious detail work, aaahhh not sure what I am getting myself into here :stuck_out_tongue:

bandro - Thank you thank you, I started it with the head smaller and I thought it looked weird, so made it bigger. Love the crits that are so helpful. If I go with him I will for sure try to get his head to fit his body. Though you may have to come back and correct me again

#36

aw - love the mousy thing - best of luck!

#37

Nice sketches & ideas Linda!Like the pied piper idea but n the other hand, the seadragon could be really epic too.Just to make you hesitate some more:D
Indeed the horselegs could be just a bit more muscled. Now they seem a bit too thin maybe.
More!:D:D:beer:

Hi Linda,

great to see you here in another challenge and it looks like this is totally your topic, very nice sketches:thumbsup: ! The one of the rat is really stunning and I already get I good idea of the style your going with, yet I can not say which concept might be the best. Looking forward to your choice and the progress!

Nice day for you,
