this analysis shows how the background & the character composition works.

#27

made a few changes.

#28

a few images i used in the scene.i also used pictures i took for reference. most of the scene was started as 3d, then repainted.

Perseus was said to be the son of Zeus and a mortal woman named Danae. Medusa was a Gorgon whose look could turn a person to stone. Perseus slew Medusa cutting of her head and using it as a weapon.

Software: Photoshop,VRay

This is my Steampunk image entry. It embodies the myth of Perseus Vs. Medusa. One of the major reasons for choosing this myth is because of it’s popularity & widespread appeal and recognition. I also liked the idea of a good fight scene. the choice of the composition was to create drama, i wanted the main character to be in a ‘stiky position’. he has no choice but to fight. both warriors are more than equiped for this epic battle. As shown in the process the majority of the background is 3d, done in google sketch-up & rendered with vray for sketch-up. it was later postprocessed in Adobe photoshop CS2, additional texturing & lightcorrection was done. All the metalic parts on the characters started out as 3d, & went through the same process as the background. the major part of the charactors such as the cloths & skin was painted in photoshop with a few photographic references of my own. after all that, the end result is as such; Perseus Vs. Medusa steampunk style.
