Latest Update: Work In Progress: Leg test

#2

this is a rough sketch I made in a hurry. Is the Hydra, the mythologic snake of seven heads that Hercules defeated and killed, transformed into a seteam powered machine. I?m not sure how it will end up, this is just a rough. I?m making it in blender.

#3

This is the head first approach, I don?t know if I will model the decoration or paint it on the texture.

#4

Just a material test, although I don’t like it very much.

#5

I changed my mind. Now I’m making Aracne, the human transformed into a spider by the goddess Minerva. The reason? well, the hydra was just…lame.
This is a sketch a bit mor elaborated, but still rough.

#6

Aracne’s body

#7

I have to make the spider body more “steampunk” with the boiler, engine, etc. I’m planning the design to make it work

#8

small update

I see your thread suffers from the same problem as mine. No one takes the time to posts/comment. Well I’m honored to be the first. I like your idea but looking at your work in progress I could not help but think that the spiders abdomen would look cool if it where transparent and you could see all the cool gears and cogs and clockwork inside. Good luck with the competition.

Hey Thanks!

Yes, it’s a little frustating but with so many talented artists, I guess is understandable although to tell the truth your reply gave me hope!
Well it seems you red my mind! that’s what I was thinking, to make an structure that lets the inner parts to be seen, the boiler, motor and pipes, etc. That would make it much more “steampunkish”
Thanks again!

Ill be looking out for your future post. and again thanks for spotting my flaw in perspective. I’m so tired now and steering at my art is not helping me to see what needs to be done. I’m gonna take a break and fix it tomorrow.

Hi,

I like your concept. I agree that it’s better than the Hydra idea, not that it was a bad idea though. However, looking at the concept I thought she would be wearing sort of a “mask of zorro” type helmet/mask on her head which would let you see the bottom half of her face. I see from the concept also that you are going for the steampunk goggles on her helmet - that will be a good look. I just think she would look “sexier” if the bottom half of her face was exposed instead of having a robot-type face.

It’s coming together well, keep it up!

Are3D,
I definetly buy your Idea! I like the shapes I’m getting but there was something a little dull on her, now I know what it is, in fact the mouth itself is for me one of the most sugerent parts of human anatomy, it can be sexy or it can inspire fear (the eyes are more evident but that makes the mouth even more interesting).
A million thanks!

Trying some things out, juas a small update

#15

This is a test render without textures, just to see what kind of materials I’m going to use. Still a lot of modeling to be done. Blender internal render, so no GI nor fancy stuff

#16

yafaray render

#17

This has a strong steampunk feel to it, Great 3d modeling. Keep up the good work!

#18

Enviroment idea
