John Malcolm has entered “Steampunk Myths and Legends”.
Been a long time lurker on CG Society and the Steampunk thing caught my eye. I’m still at the mulling ideas over stage, but hope to get some intial ideas sketched out soon. I plan to try and apply some structure and discipline to myself and submit at least a weekly work-in-progress image.
At the moment I’m leaning heavily towards:
a) Pinicchio: With the carved wooden boy being replaced by a mechanical steam driven thing.
b) Beauty and the Beast: Nice steampunk babe sobbing over the lifeless rusting hulk of a giant steambot
c) Golem: The old legend from Prague… replacing the clay golem with a brass mechanical man. The original legend had him having paper with magical words in his mouth as part of the bringing to life process… might be nice to have punched tape instead.
d) Jason and the Argonauts… replace the Argo with either a steampunk spaceship/airship or a steam powered paddle steamer.
I’ll play around with these four ideas over the next week then post the results… but would appreciate being steered in the the right direction by other’s opinions.
