Poor sketch sofar I know but it’s just a very rough sketch to allow me to write down my idea…

Trojan Horse seemed a bit too obvious so I started browsing around the web to find interesting myths and legends… didn’t have to look too far as I found The battle of the Golden Spurs.
This is a legendary battle that occured in 1302 at Kortrijk, Flanders. Legendary, because the powerful French army was beaten and chased by rebellious people that mostly didn’t have a soldier training (butchers, weavers, peepz like that).
Legend goes that the winners found hundreds of golden spurs on the battlefield afterwards.

I’m gonna try to go to this museum in Kortrijk next week or so.

Anyway, imagine a battlefield with steampowered war machines getting stuck in the mud, while the poor rebels kick the heavily armed soldiers asses with “goedendags”, spears and flails.
I know I’m making it hard for myself this way, because depicting a battlefield is way out of my comfort zone, but hell… that’s what this contest is about for me

Hey Johan! Good luck with your Golden Spurs themed image. I read “De Leeuw van Vlaanderen” in high school as my medieval book. One of the few books I actually read, instead of just sampling bits and pieces. :wink:
