Time keeper and her mechanical bird. Very loose concept at the moment, I hope to flesh out the details of the bird so I can start modelling ASAP.

That bird head looks awesome. Any chance I could get a copy of the paper you’re using to draw on?

#4

Wow, I like your sketch! Nice!

#5

WOW I loved the mood of your drawings absolutely beautiful the paper texture its a great touch

first off really nice, i love your line quality. what if on the bird you had multiple lenses like you have what looks like just one out there, what if there were more of differing sizes and colors, i like the implication of rivits all over the bird what if there were more rivits all over with different sizes and prehaps different materals, bronze body with silver or platium rivits and gold enlayed details. and what about some open areas where you can see small gears? moving and whurling like a swiss watch. the girl looks great aswell, what if she could have some lenses that she could look through, maybe a monicle. looks great tho, perhaps a ponytail with a pendjulium end, that might be cliche :D, who knows, great stuff

Thanks for the comments everyone.

rrshuping - awesome, you are reading my mind with most of the suggestions you made. The gears will be visible in an open area in the middle of the head (where I left it blank in the sketch). The rivets and lenses are for sure being considered, I am however worried about the render times with all of the details I have in mind. I’m thinking of faking most of the engravements with normal maps to keep then render times low.

I hope to have more detailed sketches up tomorrow. I am really worried about finishing this on time! I probably wont get to do the bulk of it until christmas vacations.

Finishing up the mechanical bird. The legend will be based on Kronos/Chronus the Greek and Roman god of time, seasons, calendars, etc. The mechanical bird at her side is a nod at Thoth, the Egyptian God of time, astronomy, and wisdom. Currently working out the details of her outfit, I’m trying to move away from making it a dress.

Finally got back to work on my challenge entry monday night, It?s been a while! I knew going into this contest that I would not be really starting until the christmas break. I have decided to change her costume, she looks too aristocratic in my original concept.
