Steampunk Myths and Legends Entry: Gunilla Elam

#141

Hey there!

Ok, now I’m also confused about the order of the posts:surprised …anyway I like the new comp and the water is a start:thumbsup: …if you want to make the details in 2d, I can well imagine some curly white waves painted in, just in the style of old illustrations…I’m still very curious to see how this comes out!

-sabrina

edit: Hmm, Lolos post is still behind this, I think this underlines my theory that he has actually a different timeline, just too fast for us:D

#142

Very disappointed order… when that works… :argh:

about water, the both could work… as your way, or something more drawed as Sabie said… but all must be traited like that… or almost…

About the necks, no probs for me… it’s a style… and that fits well with the rest… I don’t know what will be better… to fit with the other parts…

#143

I’m thinking of setting up a keyboard shortcut - when I hit the key my computer will automatically type in the words: “i agree with Lolo”. Yes, I think that would have saved me a lot of time lately. Once again I think he’s saying some cool stuff. I love the new versions of the water. I don’t mind the size of the big Skylla either. This is all coming together really well

#144

Hey Gunilla,

Nice updates  I agree with Laurent and perhaps a bit more sky on the top part of the image. Again cool work! Hope to see finished this concept  The best wishes for you!

#145

Morning Gunie… mmmmh but where is MY update ?

I need MY update… huhuhu

I don’t want to disturb you working darling… just I want to know if you are working on ? :stuck_out_tongue:

and to wish you a funny creative day :buttrock:

Water looks good. Later in photoshop you can use actual water images and blend it with your 3d rendered water and play around and tweak it:) .Or as suggested by sabrina you can also manually paint it in photoshop.

#147

Good morning!

Lolo - OK, the necks stays, thanks! And for the water and cliffs, I’d like to keep it rather simple, stylized. Hoping that will fit the image fine - we’ll see.

Mark - yup - that keyboard shortcut would come in very handy from time to time. thanks for cheering!

Ferx - thanks, and yes a lot of things have to be made in photoshop - question is, will there be time? :hmm:

Lolo - good morning  Yes, my machine is now rendering away as I type. I managed to render the full image in stripes and are now adding some things that didn’t turn out right. I think I have what I need to complete it… except 6-7 sailors on the ship!!
Today will be spent on tryimng to make some in 2d that could fit the style - if I fail I will have to pretend they have all fallen in the sea

Roshan - thanks for the suggestions, I will see how much time I’ll have for post. It’s running short now.

So, I’m still at it but not sure if I will make it on time since I again have some other stuff to work on that can’t wait. But hey, we still have what is it - 4 days?

#148

Héhé Gunie… I’m waiting impatiently to discover the sailors :bounce:

don’t forget the black rubbersuit :wise:

:scream:

#149

So, here’s the scene with the draft for men added. Lot’s of work left, very little time… the plan is to have the whole scene more graphic in style. I think.

#150

I really like the composition and it’s already expressive in spite (or because of;) ) the few details…something graphic would well underline the style and intention and so I hope you’ll find some time to work on it…it would be great to see this finished!

-sabrina

#151

I agree with Sabrina, even though it’s very simple, I really love the composition and style of the image. Nice stuff!

#152

Looks great! The colours, comp, mood and general feel of the image are delightful. I notice Skylla’s had a makeover with new colours and they look good too

#153

Hello Gunie…

ok with the last post… nothing to add… I keep plugged to see how comes the last details, and more especially the graphic treatment finished… :wise:

#154

nice composition Gunie… keep going :arteest:

#155

Coming along very nicely Gunilla, good on you to get back into it after being away. I like the Karybdis thing. Kool.

#156

Excellent composition Gunilla, very dynamic! I almost felt like being drawn into to the hatch
opening! I think tilting the image was a very wise thing to do, serves your comp greatly!
Hope you can find some quality time to finish this piece today, I’m really anxious to see the
final!
Have a happy 2009!

#157

Unless I come up with something really good I think this is about it.
I’ve tried to make a nice mix between 2d and 3d look.
Since I’m on an unreliable monitor I’d like to get some comments on saturation and brightness!

#158

Sabie - thanks, glad you like it! t was the plan all along to keep it rather simple, I’m glad I could restrain myself

warpv - thanks! feels good to hear the style works well!

Mark - thanks buddy! I’ve kept it much the same but hope you like it even better now

Lolo - so, what do you think, maybe the treatment is to subtle?

Tony - thanks… and you too!!

Jim - glad you like it, and yeah it wasn’t easy getting back after the abcence. Glad you like Karybdis too.

Matias - thank you and good to see you around. A happy 2009 for you as well!

OK, so I’m going to digest this one for some hours and maybe do some tweaks, but I think this is rather finished now.

#159

Hi Gunie,

saturation and brightness are ok on my monitors, I really love the coloring of this…Now I can only think of making the huge waterpart a bit more varied, but perhaps this would already ruin the strong graphic style…
So I can only wish you luck with the upload!

Thanks Sabie - I’ve decided this will be the final now… if I can upload it! I’ve tried for a couple of hours now and it simply doesn’t work :banghead:
