Steampunk Myths and Legends Entry: Gunilla Elam

#81

That machinery looks delightful - stylish and also fitting the steampunk theme. Excellent stuff. I’m very glad you’re thinking about the safety and comfort of the oarsmen too, well that is, apart from the ones that get eaten

#82

Great progress Gunilla, I like the initial texturing a lot and I think you chose the colors
well! The Idea of the background for your uploads is very keen too!
How is it going with that tail/fin, by the way?

#83

Gilles - thanks, and go, go, go back to you!

Mark - thanks and yes, it is really important to think about the comfort of the workers employed. I really wouldn’t want them to go on strike for me, we all know how difficult that can become in the later stages of a challenge!

mathias
- thank you, I begin to have an idea of the colorset now. The fin? Ermm, Phuiii… later this weekend, OK? I’ve been stuck with such unpleasant things as actual paid work for some days

I guess this is how it’s going to be for me this time - updates some days and total silence others. I will keep an eye on you all though, make sure of that.

#84

Some updates for Skylla. I want her to be part organic and part machinery.
Next will be a take on the whole scene,
This is not the final texture just an approximate to check the style. Once I got the style for the environment done I will go back and refine.

#85

hurray the first one to reply …today`s keep going :bounce:

#86

It’s truly original for sure… I like much this design… even the color choice… that give something very strange and that works much…

…very good idea with smoke shapes  you must keep this way I think…

I’m not surprise… that grow… and it’s again totally “you”… Gunillish ? :scream:

#87

Hi there Gunilla, Super nice concept and you truly show you’re excellent style.
Keep up the great work.

#88

Nice, I like it. There is a bit of a 50s arborite colour scheme going on, very cool.

#89

Beautifully steampunked! Excellent work. And I’m another one who likes your choice of colours

#90

Nice update  And i like the style of your presentation

Morning Gunie,

ah, another weekend update I’ve nearly missed! I begin to see now how you’ll manage to mix 2d and 3d in an amazing way, with the texture your Skylla really pops out of the background…so well done:thumbsup: . And Skylla already has a lot of character…well, multiple characters in fact:D …I love the idea of the split personality you’ve mentioned before…

Have a great start in the week!

Antone - thanks for cheering, much needed atm

Lolo - Gunillish? Glad you like it, I’m beginning to see all the difficulties in making a working mix between ancient greek, 50:ies arty style and steampunk - hope I will manage to find a good mix here.

Carl - hej and thanks!

Jim - yeah, that’s the idea… or one of them. We’ll see if it works out.

Mark - OK, seems the colorset is all set now then - thanks mate!

Nico - good, glad you like it.

Steph - almost late again, huh? That is sooo Stephish  And thanks for liking!

Sabie - oh, I still got a long way to go before I solve the rather vague idea of how to mixing 2d and 3d for this one. And certainly Skylla will have more different faces - it could be fun to have two of the disagreeing for instance. A great start for you too.

So, some work will come in the way this week but next step will have to be getting started on the environment.

thanks all for your interest :bounce:

#94

In any case, “your” mix will be very very original… no new images today ?
I wish you a nice week… with some updates :buttrock:

#95

#96

Hey Gunilla,

Skylla looks great, and your idea about mixing organic and steampunk elements sounds cool. The armor on skylla looks really great. Maybe you need a some sort of steam boiler over it. :)Waiting for more updates my friend

#97

Your latest work brought an audible laugh from me. So… ya. For what it’s worth, amazingly fun!

#98

#99

Lolo - thanks and sorry… no updates yet

Omar - hey there, good to see you in!

Fernando - yes, you’re right about the boiler on the Skylla - how else could she have steam from her nostrils? Will be in the next update for her.

silenceimpaired
- hi, glad you enjoy my work here. Also cool to see a new face around here

Eddie - Don’t hold your breath on the outcome just yet - I will be delayed. Fun having you back here.

So, today a long time delayed assignment arrived, meaning I will be swamped in work for some time now. So, don’t expect any update any time soon … I will be here checking up on you all though. So you better behave - daily updates please! :wise:
