Steampunk Myths and Legends Entry: Gerard Jaran

#29

I have to say that looks pretty cool.

#30

Very cool so far, Gerard!

#31

Indeed …!

#32

Your design is very nice. Wooden boiler on a steam engine is a bit unusual but looks relay nice on your model. Only one small thing - the neck (if it is a neck) could use one more level of subdivision. It’s profile looks just a little segmented now.

#33

The wood is over a metal boiler

The neck is in one segment cause i might have more on the under part of it will post an update soon.

#34

Ok well here’s a little update, still lots of work to do but I was a bit fed up of working on the body so I started working on the legs

#35

I love the small details. Fantastic!

#36

very nicely done … keep it up.

#37

Yeah, a horse isnt the easiest thing to make, we should know, ours has 8 legs.

#38

Big update for me :), finally done with the modeling and rigging of the legs, I’m not good at rigging but this should do the trick. I started the front plate, to tired to put the little spheres and textures it will have to wait to tomorrow.

Thanx all for your comments it’s appreciated

#39

very nice work … quite a few horses around in this challenge i see …

#40

its coming along really good with this kind of metal choices

#41

Hi there, loving the details! I just have one comment, maybe the grey metal is a bit too reflective, it looks wet right now.

#42

Well only two things left to do, the tail and the head that I started already. Then I can start modeling my other elements.

#43

nice feel of art and machinery in this hourse, really cool stuff

good luck

#44

Well didn’t have much time during the holydays, and I just noticed I never posted my final horse so here it is.

I’m still in the race but yikes deadline is coming up fast, have a few scene render but I want to finish the first scenes before posting anything, and I have some that still have a pass missing, doing my smoke on a different pass.

So keep watching should have something up soon, and my storyboard to

#45

This one rocks!
A pretty nice model you got there!

#46

Well I’m out of the race, everytime I think I have free time I have something to do for work :frowning:

Well here’s my favorite scene at least

Clic here

Sorry all, I thought during the holydays I would of been able to do some work but it was the otherway around, not easy doing contest when you have kids

#47

Hey Gerard,

it’s too bad to hear this but i gotta say, i’m already surprised that i’m still going on. It almost looks like trying to reach the deadline while it’s impossible.

I hope you’ll find time to finish the horse completely and put it in some environment just to get it into your portfolio. It’s a lovely piece. Don’t let the hard work vanish!

cheers and hope to see you in another challenge

#48

The horse is finish

I have a scene of it walking the only thing missing is the smoke coming out of the cheminee

So I’ll find a minute at one point to do it

And I’ll be back for another challenge hopefully the deadline will be a bit longer and not when I’m in the middle of a big contract
