Steampunk Myths and Legends Entry: Eric Son
Hi everyone,
This is my initial steam punk challenge concept. First, I started out with a simple silhouette shape. I will then carve and clean up the image, so I can start painting.
Here is my second entry. I’ve cleaned up the edges and added some shading to show volume. I’ve also sketched up some mechanical parts for future rendering.
Here is my third entry. In this step, I’ve sketched some areas where I planned to render mechanical parts.
By the way, I forgot to mentioned that I’m not using any references at this point. For this project, I’m just making it up as I go. I probably will use some references later when I start adding textures and color. For now, I just want to be impulsive in developing the character.
that’s looking pretty good Mr. Son, but since you’re almost at the time, you might need to highlight areas where the light may shine… like the chest/eyes.
can’t wait till you finish. here’s mine: http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php?p=5521407#post5521407
Wow, this is very high quality. And I thought I was good. This is by far the best I’ve seen in a long while. Can you say 1st place? hey, good luck. This is very highly detailed and well thought out.
Nice work…If I were U I would have adjusted the proportions of the character…and give more armor…TO MAKE HIM A TOUGH GUY!!!
I’ve added some color to the character. This is just an experimental stage for the color. I will change it later depending on the environment. Also, I called this image Lobsterman because I was originally going to make it look like one from the silhouette. However, it turned out to be something completely different from the original idea:)
Feebacks are welcome.
I finally have a back story for this character. This character is based on the myth from the film “Creature from the Black Lagoon”. I’ve developed the character by adding a mechanical element to the creature making it a hybrid of some kind. I felt that I should create something completely original instead of reinventing something that has been done many times such as Centaurs or Minotars. I wanted to use the Steampunk engine to run both the conjoined creature and the robot.
Feed backs are welcome!!
I’ve added more metallic steampunk color to the image. Next step will be the enviornments and textures.
