Steampunk Myths and Legends Entry: Edward Cicka
I was looking through some of the legend/myths ideas listed in the “inspiration” page and I thought that it would be fun to try to do Pandora’s box! Considering the aspect of Steam technology and how it was thought to be something brought by the devil, this could be a very interesting study. Below are two ideas I threw together today. No background stuff yet, but I’m thinking of lots of mechanical stuff, dark, moody, brass, reflections, etc. This was done with DAZ|Studio and Michelle 4, and Blender:

I’m not quite sure yet. This was a default clothing package that I got from DAZ. I like the look of it, except for the boots, particularly when using a lot of brass/gold/red colors as I’m planning to do in the background. Nothing says that the event has to be historic, it just states that it has to be a legend or folk lore. So I can take the lead of many Shaksperian directors and base historic events in modern dress!
This is my concept idea for a Pandora’s Box idea. The female character was done using DAZ|Studio and imported into Blender. The background, which is going to simulate an environment similar to the Crystal Palace that was in London in the late 1800’s and the chest were created in Blender. I plan to us Blender for almost all work.
This is a lighting test using blenders internal render engine and a simple light set up. This is ray traced with soft shadows although the resolution is pretty low right now. I want to add some more lights and work a bit with the background to improve the image.
