This is my first sketch, the idea is to show the Quiron centaur in the moment he renounces to his inmortality and gives it to Caronte the carrier of the souls in the Estigia river. Watching the scene with deep sorrow is Hercules who dresses with the skin of the invulnerable lion of nemea. A friend told me that Hercules doesn´t fit, any comments?

a more detailed Caronte, I choose to depict him as a clown inspired by some words from Umberto Eco in his novel “The Island of the Day Before” (words less words more translated from spanish i read from) "nothing worse that a laughing god in front of the humankind misery, oh Lord!! double your lightnings upon us!! but don´t show us your laughing in this day of misery!! so I came with the idea of a laughing clown in front of the terrible day of the death

Que onda Alex

Es bueno verte por aqui de nuevo y que le hayas entrado al challenge

Like your idea Alex, have many potential for sure. Think you can make Quiron like a steam machine and Caronte closing the main steam valve, only a comment  Good luck and looking forward formore updates! Cheers!

hi hi , great idea cant’ wait to see you develop it more. As for your friends advice, you can try the characters in a few different positions in the composition with and without Hercules and see how it looks and if it feels right to you.

Cool idea for concept, very promising! keep it coming

#7

Very nice concept, very creepy. Look forward to seeing more.

#8

Nice idea, Caronte looks particularly scary and would make a good central focus. Maybe lose Hercules and save yourself some extra work too.

#9

a beautifull concept and a wonderfull sketch  best luck with the challenge!

like your idea a lot,
i like so much your character"Hercules who dresses with the skin of the invulnerable lion of nemea.the onlything i dont like is the composition of the picture.try to make a litle bit extreem perspective.
i would like to see your progress

#11

interesting point of view…incredibly unorthodox approach…looks poetic a lot…i’m eager to see the result…good luck with that.

#12

This is a new version with a change in perspective and I removed Hercules. I removed the clown aspect in caronte in order to make him scarier. Trying to make the image more epic and interesting, Thanks everyone for your helpful comments!

a more detailed sketch form caronte

Oh my god this is gonna be hard to paint, it is splited in two drawings: the torso and the ship. Hopefully this will help me to keep control on the painting, I like it!! Im even thinking about removing Quiron hA! im not so much into giving quiron the "cyborg treatment, any comments?

This is a test to the general lighting of the artwork. Still too colorful it will be darker and grayer in the end
