This looks so cool. Love the texture work. I’ve seen you are working with arnold, so I’ve got a question. Are you using the standard arnold shader or some custom one like the AlShaders to layer tx ?

#81

@Valentin Erbuke
The Gif was just to show that I did a small setup to switch between a modelling and a final pose position. Tutorials still need more time. Let me first finish the gang
Hope these images answers your question.

#82

Finetuned the renders, added antenna and radar eye.

#83

I thought it is a good time to prepare a first Turntable render.
Hope you like the progress

Thank you webhead

Sorry guys, I am busy with work at the moment. But I want to let you know, that I have started to write a making of / workflow about my R2-D2. Keep you posted

#87

that I have started to write a making of / workflow about my R2-D2

Great model!
Great news! I am waiting! for! Thank you! :applause:

#88

I’m interested how high you put your render settings to make these previews, would you mind sharing them? So that would be the sampling and each lights’ samples. And do you change any ray depths? They look really clean.

Keep up the good work! Your super clean modeling inspires me to create cleaner meshes instead of using shortcuts

#89

Clarity can be also changing the Guassian render to a Mitchell

#90

Hey AlfirkEngineer,

sorry for my late reply.
I put all ray depth values to 1, as the difference is mostly seen only in rendertime

Sampling
Camera AA 4
Diffuse 4
Glossy 4

These are mostly the values I used, but probably I used different values for the renders, and I wont
be able to doublecheck which exact values were used for which rendering.

#91

Cool progect!

#92

@ just a quick piep to keep the thread alive. Am I right, that Work in Progress threads will be closed down after a while? Currently I am just busy at work but want to continue hopefully soon with my 3 robots.

#93

I think it takes a year of inactivity before threads are archived.

#94

Correct it take a year. I do that same: post just to keep my threads alive

Hey guys
I found the time to finish my BB-8 model. Next step will be UVs and a heavy ZBrush pass to break the
clean surface. Hope you like the progress
