Job Description
This position requires a leader that can direct a team of level artists to
ensure that the team is moving forward efficiently and that good practices are
being followed. This person will help determine what these good practices are
and also assist the Art Lead with determining and achieving the art style of the
project.
Responsibilities
•Creates cohesive environmental content such as architectural buildings,
signage, terrain, skies, and ecosystems and texture/normal maps and integrates
them into the game engine.
•Will assist Lead Artist to lead other level artists in achieving a cohesive
look across all environments
•Integrates assets into the game
•Participates in visual comparison and critiques
•Works within hardware limitations for project
•Meets deadlines with proficiency
Qualification/Education
•Art related college degree. (4 year degree recommended)
•At least five years experience in a production environment, preferably in the
game industry
•In-depth understanding of all implemented 2D/3D art tools and plug-ins in the
studio including Maya, Photoshop, AC|DSee, 3DMax, and Perforce.
•Demonstrable experience designing, modeling, texturing, and lighting,
levels/environment using 3DStudio Max and/or Maya, and ZBrush.
•Experience writing tools with Mel
•Understanding of proprietary tools and material shaders (ability to write
rendering shaders a plus)
•Understanding of visual effects production
•Impressive portfolio: traditional art skills with good sense of design and an
amazing attention to detail; strong painting and texture skills are a must;
•Demonstrated initiative and problem-solving skills
•Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills, including
ability to provide art critiques
•Ability and willingness to accept and follow direction, collaborate
productively with others, and work to meet deadlines as necessary.
