Split body parts

#1

hello i want to ask something… i want to modelling a character and then i am going to rig and animate my model…

is it ok to split the body into parts?? So, the head is one object, the arms are one object, the hands are one object, the torso is one object, the pants, legs and everything, are individual objects.

Since the character are separated into parts, would this cause much problems during rigging and animation?

Thank you

It should not cause problems if rigged correctly, it’s just that you’ll potentially have holes or seams showing at the splits. Showing what the model looks like would help give better advice.

Separate parts can work fine. Psyk0 is right about holes appearing if weights don’t match up properly - however, if you have geometry that matches up, you can use the Copy Skin Weights from one part to another to ensure that overlapping verts will match each other exactly.

Without matching geo, make sure to build in some overlap to the pieces so that no gaps are visible. Again, copy skin weights can help here.
