Spherize dissapears with appended scene

#1

I have been having trouble with Spherize not working when a scene has been appended.

It also stops working if I move a character away from its origin.

I’m using the Spherize Effect for the eyelids on all of my characters.

Anyone had this trouble before? If what I’m saying doesn’t make sense let me know.

Come on guys. Surely someone knows how to fix this. Taron? Wegg? Joe Cosman?
Please help. Thanks.

I forgot to mention that I am using super blender for my morph targets.

I’m going to try resetting up my morphs with morph blender and see if that changes anything.

It seems like I have read a lot of threads about how buggy super blender is.

#4

did you parent spherize to anything? if you didnt, then these are pretty elementary questions heh.

#5

Yes, I parented the spherize effect to the head of each character. I works fine if I’m just turning the head, but if I move the whole body somewhere else there is no more spherize effect present.

#6

If for some reason we can’t get this to work, does anyone know of a way to do non-linear morphs? I.E. create middle position morph targets and fade between them with one slider?

#7

did you parent to the head as in bone or geometry?

as far as non linear blends, if you search i think there was a thread about this too.

Super blender is not a pmg supported product, and I’ve read about problems.

It sounds like the effect is not tracking with the head (at least one possibility). Try placing nulls in the RIG, but in the position you want the effect, and parent the spherize effects to the nulls (as opposed to the head). Make sure the Spherize effect still shows the head as being the target of the effect.

Failing that, 5 morph tragets could probably get you enough to get a curved morph.

Just a thought…

Best,
Rick

It’s parented to a bone.

I’ll check out that thread.

That thread didn’t explain it enough for me to figure it out.

Here is a link to my scene file if anyone wants to take a crack at finding the problem.
