Latest Update: Modeling: More orc head

#2

When I first read the brief for this challenge I wasn’t very interested but as the days went by I found myself thinking about things that are spectacular. My thoughts wandered from accidents to actitecture but all the time my ideas for a scene had something to do with war. My first thought was to render a sweeping battlefield with masses of troops, tanks and explosions, pretty spectacular… My thoughts narrowed to the leaders of the battling armies, wearing thier spectacular uniforms/ armour although modern uniforms do not compare to military uniforms of history, so the theme for the scene changed to a historical battle… Ideas rushed through my head about which armies to model. I searched the internet for inspiration and found some pretty fancy uniformed soldiers… but why should i stick to historical fact?! The armies battling away in my head gradually began to change into something different, why have lets say… British redcoats squaring up against Napolean’s troops (excuse the historical inaccuracy) when I could have hulking fantasy Orcs squaring up against the Noble Elves.

The final image was begining to take shape, the great generals of the oposing armies leading their fanastically armoured troops against each other!! I finally reallised that to create a spectacular image I didnt even need the armies, just the generals, fully armoured in their native battle dresssquaring off in single combat… At that critical moment befor the blow is landed, It could go either way, the strength of the orc Vs the nimble elf, as the sun sets behind the distant mountains.

What I feel will make this image spectacular is not only the setting and situation of the render but also the (hopeful) beuty and detail in the armour and equipment being used by the combatants.

Hello by the way, sorry for rambling on.

Orc Progress.

I’ve begun working on the Orc, starting with his head… The ears, textures and eyes are just placeholders. His ears will probably be covered up by his helmet anyway. Moving on to modelling his body next, although I may try a few weapons first to take a break from this ugly fella.

Ahhhh! Hello waynepashley. Don’t see this as a bad critic, because it’s not… your model is really really good, but… don’t you think you could do an orc slightly different from that one in “World of War Carft”. Good luck.
