ta. rear of the plane is coming soon and hopefully some more detailled layout of the scene will be as well
Spectacular 3D Entry: Paul Robinson
So the basic shape of the plane is all done now the next stage with it is to decide how it will be hitting the tower and destroy appropriately
i think i’ll have an engine falling off, a wing snapping off, flames billowing from a hole in the side (bomb on board) and smoke coming from all the engines (those still atatched…lol)
should be fun to break it…
also apologies for the bad timing of the update…my bad
Man are you keeping a good pace! We’re like 5 days into an 80 day challenge and you are almost done with the modeling! YIKES. Way to get crankin right off the bat
I wish I could do the same but I’ve got too much friggen homework! Lol.
I like where this is headed. I also agree with your decision to make the plane collide with the tower. Otherwise it would be easy for the viewer to think the plane is “behind” the tower and not actually going to collide.
Have fun creating the explosion. I have NO idea how that is done in 3d. Good luck. (or are you just gonna “paint” the explosion in photoshop?)
thanks mate
modelling is about 30% done…cos i still have a few tent variations, the rest of the tower, the destruction of the plane and the tower and then the environment…
the environment is going to kill me…lol
as for the explosion i’ve been experimenting with some stuff in max over the last few days and might put up some renders soon…
Any chance of a more detailed sketch? I’m not sure I completely get the concept you are going for.
i’ll try and have something for you tomorrow nichod as i’m just about to finish up on my work for this for the day…
this is just a quick test of the flames and smoke and such on the plane…
i think i went just a bit overboard…hehe
more tomorrow
Don’t forget to have smoke coming out the front of the engines as well. And make the smoke more swirly and of course I’m sure you plan on having it soften and drift as it gets more distant from the “source”. Great work!
yeh i thought i should have some coming out the front too…
i’m gunna put alot of work into the smoke, fire etc…i want it to look ‘spectacular’
I was beginning to become unhappy with the angle that I had previously so here are 4 different angles (including the old one) and I need some help choosing the best one…
I like the first one but I would like to get some other opinions
also if you have any other ideas for a shot that would be great
id personally go for angle 4 , but out of all of them i dont really like any. No offence, but i think they could be a lot better angles. Just try out a few more before deciding.
You have an interesting idea, id love to see anything french go down
Good luck
Kickass progress with the modeling! A lot of time left in the contest and u’ve done so much already. Angle 1 I like the most for the explosion, but you could still play around with more angles. Wish you all the best.
Interesting concept…
i like the first view angle, however, would be more spectacular if the turbines or aircraft parts are falling to the ground
Good luck!!![]()
thanks for the input guys
thinking on the first angle I was going to have the engines falling down towards the camera with flames trailling…maybe have some people jumping off of the tower…general mayhem…
and i also considered putting the camera inside the first or second level of the tower and having a first person view of the nose of the plane breaking into the tower…
i might go mock that up now and come back in a minute
Just a quick mockup of the angle from inside the tower…
imagine the pillar of the tower breaking and bending away, the front of the plane smashed and burning, the engines coming off the plane and the wings snapping forwards
also picture some people jumping/running out of the way of the plane…
I like the first one on the image with the four shots on it. The above one might be a bit much, especially if you’re going to put people, explosions, and fire in it…unless you can swing it really good, perhaps zoom out just a bit.
Excellent modeling on the tower…can’t wait to see further development.
