Spectacular 3D Entry: Kenny Molly

#4

quick start of the head, just to get things going before I work out the detailed concept.

#5

a bigger version of what I have atm

#6

hehe this one is just for fun, just wanted to gcheck him out with some quick cartoon hair made with Saslite.

Cartoon animals always seem to work for a laugh

#7

CUTE CAMEL!

LIKE IT ~~ the fur looks nice~

Kenny…just keeep on ur work …i will shut up for this moment!

#8

that’s so cool man, i dont know about the idea, i have to see it finished, but your model is so cool:thumbsup: what Package are you using? Zbrush ?

#9

dinodog_Jr: I intend to keep it up mate, last challenge I had to give up cause I started a bit too late on some things and in the end other stuff came up that left me unable to finish in time.
that’s not gonna happen to me a second time! thanks for the support!! :scream:

3rd user: Thanks for your interest: thanks for the interest man! I’ll work out a clear concept as I think off new characters in my scene, something should be up soon. I’m a lighwave user, tried zbrush demo once but prefer the old fashioned ways of modeling tbh. I need to focus on controlled use of polys, otherwise I tend to go overboard

I’ve seen amazing stuff done with Zbrush though, but for now it isn’t my cup of tea.

#10

sure there is…i have not tried it yet but it worth trying for sure…i’m trying to buy the gnomon dvds…meats miere i think…anyway…
Keep it up and Good luck:thumbsup:

I love the camel so far! Please hurry up and come up with a story! Create some sketches and get a little scene going. It would drive me nuts to say to myself, “well, I don’t know what I’m gonna do for this challenge, but I want it to involve a dog… so I guess I’ll model a dog…”

That’s such a funny way of doing things, but hey, whatever works! I look forward to seeing your idea come to the surface.

#12

Hehe, that’s pretty funny. I like camels too. I wonder how the final image will look. Actually, I wonder how the concept sketch will. Good luck.

#13

gardogg: I have the concept in mind allready, must have explained myself wrong. I just don’t have a clue how I’ll put it in a scene yet. usually I hit this problem and just start with the things I’m sure of and add to that as I go along, works for me

but since you insist, I’ll compile my ideas now and up something temporary by tonight.

profg: I figured with fur and shiny big eyes I couldn’t go wrong hehe, and subtle hint about the concept btw:D shame on me… lol

#14

I like the modeling, but the current fur around the face seems a bit long for a camel, especially if you take a look at the reference photos. I understand it’s just in starting stages, so

Otherwise, I’ll be awaiting the concepts eagerly.

#15

AmazingC: I agree :), it was just a 2 click preview test to see what it would look like to be honest. I wasn’t really setting out for a cartoon style project, but since everyone appears to like it I may carry on in this direction anyway:D . So I will give it seveeral layers of nicely tweaked fur, no worries :buttrock:

#16

That is one cute camel! Will there be a whole bunch or just this one? Could be quite fun to have several in different moods interacting with eachother … good luck and have fun!

#17

nice to see you again gunilla :), I wanna make a herd of them, neatly in a row tied to eachother. the scene should show them as they are panicking and trying to get away.should provide me with some interesting hectic camel shots lol

#18

great modeling it looks good with just s simple sas pass…

#19

here you go, with a bit of delay, and far from my best piece of work… but it will get the idea through I guess.

here’s what I had in mind. I originally wanted to create a scene showing a panicking crowd. First I thought an apparation, like a deity falling from the sky, after that I also played with the idea of a first encounter with a new species, a human spacecraft flying above an alien world, confusing it’s inhabitants.

but then I decided to go for the fun touch.
one of the most interesting crowds has to be an arabian market in a thousand and one night’s setting (think disney’s aladin or so).
Now to get the crowd to panick I decided to make a camel on the loose wreak havoc, making the crowd run away from it through the gates of the village, outward into the oasis on the left (forgot to add palmtrees in my concept, but they’ll be in the final.

the scene should tell loads of little detail stories, like I so love in Josh kirby’s work. a housewoman running after the beast who still has half of her washing line stuck to it’s back. a fruit salesman chasing a few kids who ran off with some fallen fruit, also a snake charmer, maybe some harem girls… will see what pops to mind.

I also have an idea why the camel got frightened and went mad… but I’ll keep that for later.

is this a bit more clear then?

#20

here’s a testrender on the sky texture and the one for the ground plane. I find it a bit better than the one I used in the concept thingy.

#21

progress on the camel

#22

one more before I go grocery shopping with the misses (no repect for an artist’s time those women… lol jk ladies, don’t go flaming me now)

spinned some quads to get the back right, now to add the legs to the butt & shoulders…

I will upload more when I get back.

#23

Okay, the idea is much clearer now. So you are suggesting that the spectacular part of this image will be the fact that one camel can cause THIS MUCH chaos? I guess you should focus on exaggerating the chaos factor. Really cause some extreme havoc. I would like to see some salesmen’s tables breaking and fruit falling all over the ground, people getting trampled, the camel foaming leaping about with a wild look on his eyes, etc. I think this idea can work! Good job so far and I look forward to seeing more.
