Spectacular 3D Entry: Jon Berry

#41

Thank you!

HammaJamma - You are right, what caused it will allow me to figure out what the damage is. I’ve no idea what cause it though  smoke and flames a definate though.

If I had the camera on a building you wouldn’t get the scope of the incident.

beelow - thank you!

Andy H - I have UVed a few of them, but not nearly as many as I should have, D’oh! I better get on with it, hehe

Maxter - thanks for the support.

Update soon hopefully.

Whoah Jon, what a mammoth task you have before you… Congratulations on some fine realisation already! and good luck:thumbsup:

#43

Not much of an update… some cars on the road.

#44

I think im starting to realise how stupidly hard this is going to be for me to get this finished and looking like the image ive got in my head.

Anyway  im figuring out how to do the chared crop. Some broken roads in there amoungst other small things.

#45

Ive started to make the buildings, im going to use each one 2 or 3 times other wise its going to take years

I think they look good the detail they are, its going to need some tweaking but overall I think it will look good.

#46

The concept is awesome! Very neat.

Can’t say much about the end-result yet. Good luck, can’t wait!

#47

Another slight update, buildings, buildings and more buildings.

#48

This is going to take years  im glad weve got 2 months left.

#49

Yes it is going to take serious amounts of time. Are you using displacement mapping to do some of the geometry rather than actually modeling?

Also being that it is a fairly high up view you can get away with faking alot of the detail with textures rather than actually modeling them.

#50

Great start on your city, it’s really starting to take shape. I’m doing a similar thing for my challange entry (although it is a medieval-stlyle town). I think you’ve done a good job of adding enough detail to make your scene interesting without going overboard in terms of poly count. The randomization of building types and tighly packed layout adds alot of realism to the cityscape as well. Good stuff. Alexi.

#51

I go with what hammajamma just fake it with diplacements and/or just some nice textures, good luck to ya! you have 2 months plenty of time, holla!

#52

It is amazing what u achieved in short time, very impressive. Cannot wait to see the final.

#53

Love the idea. It’s gonna look fantastic once it’s all done and done up.

I’d really hate to have to UV that lot, though…

#54

Another update, more buildings in place, railway etc.

HammaJamma - The modeling itself really isnt very detailed. All of the buildings are just boxes with textures on them. Some closer to camera have extruded parts to create pillars and depth to certain walls but nothing more.

alexichabane - Thank you, it is a fine line yes. My PC is beginning to hate me though

beelow - I intend to, I think all of the destruction will be done with alpha maps.

dkHamburg - Thank you.

Talon - hey m8, Thanks. Its not as bad as it looks, honest

#55

Small update, my first attempt at some greenry.

#56

Another update.

#57

Ive found some time to do some more.

I decided to break up the city a bit with a park. Im pleased with how it looks so far. I might have to do some post Photoshop work to break up the trees shadows, but I dont see a way around it.

#58

hey its building up quite nicely!, well done!

#59

I admire your patience, great work so far

#60

Thank you. Is having more park cheating ? I dont have to make so many buildings
