Wasnt 100% whether to enter or not due to my inexperiance but i thought id give it a shot, the learning experiance alone will make it worth it.
Early concept of what came out of my head when i thought of something spectacular. Basically i want to create my take on life which shows the excitement, fear, emotions, etc you go through.
The concept picture is about 50% complete, i was trying to get the feel and mood of the scene and i still need to add the substance.

Hiya!! Welcome to the challenge. This is a wonderful idea. I was also thinking along the lines of life and death and how I could represent it but gave up and thought of something else. I really like how each part of your image has different meanings too. Bery well thought out! Your idea sounds great, I look forward to see more progress.

Thanks for the encouragement enialadem, its always welcome. I looked at some of your work and was impressed esecially with what is this Land?, i love the feel and atmosphere of it, reminds me of me always thinking about every little thing.
It was very hard to come up with something to show life/death while trying to be original, i basically just laid in bed all day with my eyes closed see what i could up with and listened to songs which hit different emotional values.
Ive also decided on a way to show confusion of life, although im still young one thing ive noticed the older i get the more confused i am with life and ask many more questions. So what i thought is i could have dark myst getting thicker and thicker further along the way.
Im a little bit worried of cluttering the image up of too many things so im going to need to just restrict the amount of things i want represented. The 5 im considering are:
Love
Fear
Jealousy
Joy
desire
How to represent them i do not know but i’l think of something.
ok another update, about the image, I’ll explain the concept a little bit to help people understand my image. I want to create a image of life because is there anything more spectacular then life itself. The bushes at the front represent the coming of life with the fruit growing on the plant. The blood shifitng in the water shows the pain thats gone through by our mothers to give life. The water itself is life and the further we travel down the the deeper we are engulfed by it and the more it wears us down. The horizon shows the human behaviour of always looking forward, hoping, dreaming, wishing. The sky has 2 meanings the sunlight on the right shows a path to god/heaven while the outer space part is the path of the atheists who have choosen science instead of religion. But the clouds are blocking most of it which means theres still lots to be discovered and found out. The eye on the left is to show the Surveillance society we’re becoming, how all the details of our lives are being recorded in one form or another. The man in the centre is “The man” although theres is no one man dictating life, he represents the media, governments etc.
Im still deciding on how to represent the substance of life, a thought of having trees coming out of the water holding on to objects such of excitement, fear etc. To show the beauty of earth i might have inconic structures coming out of the water. Im basically still to figure how im doing that part.
i like where ur going, but u really should make a more interesting angle, cause this way it ill look …too much emptiness, if u know what i mean. try zooming in a little good luck:thumbsup:
yeah i definetly agree nebezial, im not getting the the grand feel i want. I think an angle from just above and behind the baby looking up at everything would help create a more better angle.
I still deciding upong alot things to add which is why it feels a bit empty, i just cant determine what to add and how.

This concept is more of a fantasy tale about future destiny and how the world is falling under the cloud of evil darkness with no way through it. The scene is about the destiny of one man and how his coming will shine a light through the mist of darkness.
The darkness is brought due to the urge of people to strive for technology and science(the space part).
Im planning on also adding a dark creature to the left side but couldnt think of anything yet.
There is some real depth to this concept thats great. A creature in the water to hinder his way is great. You seem to have a lot of duality so you should provide another creature to help him get across as well. Also, to break up the scene a little, and add another layer to the concept, you could have little islands. We all reach places in our lives where we stop and survey what lies ahead, and what has already happened. Or the islands could be used to show the emotions you wanted to depict. Just an idea, this concept could go in many directions.
ok my concept is pretty much finished, im happy with the colours ive chosen and the overall spectacular image im going for.
@Ovidsmuse I thought about islands in the water as you mentioned which is something im not 100% sure about because i want a strong water refelction of the city lights and characters poised to fight. I will though add them in 3d just to see if it doesn improve the scene so thanks for the comment.

ok after starting to model a little, i relised i dont like whats happening in the concept, It just lacks any motion, anything eye catching, any depth and was simply to simple. Ive decided to complicate the scene a little more by going all out evil fantasy.
Ive done a very quick horrible mock up over the old concept. Basically the world is on the verge of having something evil break into it. The composition, lighting character placements are all incorrect as i was just trying to give a rough idea what im planning.
In the city in the background i want to to add fire like mountains breaking through to add to the attack. I’ll probaly come up with more stuff over time.

I finally got to spend a couple of hours modelling today, Ive started to block out the city area and tried getting a feel for the architecure on the buildings which will stand out.
More to follow.
I also wondered if anyone could point me in the right direction on creating the chaotic sea? Ive thought of 2 ways, one would be to actually model the sea by hand, the paint deformation tool would be used which would help to create the waves. I also thought about using a displacement map but i havent been getting great results(could of been becuase the plane didnt have enough polys).
What would you reccomend?
Also on the concept side of things im tempted on adding a few more devilish creatures around the place to help create a more scary scene.
Im struggling to find time to work on my piece(with work and university starting) but i managed to little update. Ive added a new component to my scene which i hope will create a better image of Good Vs Bad.

Ive started work on a sort of temple, i felt my scene lacked any foreground detail. I finding it hard to find any composition i like, i decided one thing then change my mind so quickly. The hero character would now also be in the forground looking upon(maybe about to burst into action) the destrcution of the city and being takenover.
I like your idea of making ‘just’ life to the topic of your entry. But than I’d recommend you to make it vivid. Make life and creation the main theme of the entry.
Till now your image looks bit like destruction, chaos and bit cold.
But good ideas.

That was my initial idea but relising the difficulty of it and just finding the right feel i decided to go for something a bit like destruction, chaos and bit cold(which im glad u think its where its going). Im working more on a good vs evil theme in a fantasy form.
