Spectacular 3D Entry: James Kaufeldt

#441

Nice render, but the deformation of bridge is with a aspect “default”, harms as he is wip still, the scene promises:thumbsup:

#442

Hey there! This one is looking amazing

I think you could add a lot of debris there. Flying metal pieces, concrete pieces… a couple of heads and bodies too…

Maybe not the heads but the debris are a good idea

Keep it up.

#443

carai! That’s really amazing!!

#444

You know James, the more I look at it the more I feel like the composition is “too” flat. I know you’ve worked really hard on it, but it’s way too straight on for my taste. I would of like to see the bridge go back into some sort of perspective.

I’m really diggin the wave of the road. Did you ever think about actually shifting the road like an earthquake would. It would be sweet to see some peices of the road lifted and shifted over the rest of the street, with the rebar and all that sticking out.

#445

That is FREAKING AWESOME! I have two suggestions. I think that you should add sparks (metal on asphalt would create some sparks, especially with high friction). Also, I think you need something that really stands out in this picture. Sort of like a center of interest? I know the plane is a “center of interest” but the picture just needs something more. To fulfill this lack, I would suggest a motorcycler who got hit by the upturning road and is flying up in the air with his bike flying out of control next to him (he could be like 20 feet off the ground maybe). That would really add that extra punch that this picture needs. Besides, to get more of an emotional response from the viewer, it is effective to have a person involved in the accident. Showing the motorcycler will bring out that personal side to the picture and evoke emotions (such as empathy) into the viewer.

Even if you don’t take my suggestions, this picture will rock!

Looking good james . Keep it up man  Amazing work

#447

Awesome stuff dude -Keep it up.

Wowowow… I’ve been following this one from concept 4 on… fully amazed :). You’ve gotten me to finally come out and post now. This is simply incredible work you’re doing, absolutely stunning!

I really dont’ have any suggestions for you at this point, because it is indeed a WiP. I have faith that you’ll add sparks, a few explosions, and more detail with the cars, so no sense suggesting anything with that until I see what unbelievable concoction you’ve come up with :).

Are you planning on having any sort of action going on in the sky?.. maybe a smoke trail from the path of the plane? I could understand if you don’t put much up there, though… don’t want to make the scene too busy.

And lastly… I was overjoyed to hear that you’ll render a 4000pixel wide version when all is said and done… what more could I ask for!!!

Cheers!

Great update ! The texture is really Huge !

#450

Yes… certainly too wavy and not broken enough, with pieces which flees in glares, but that comes really good… each day give something “more” to your creation… nice work

#451

damn, that’s just looking too cool… it should be illegal… hehe

great work so far, at this rate u can finish a month before the deadline

#452

Wow…this is looking insane man!!..very good work so far…is not as i did imagine…is much better:thumbsup::bounce::buttrock::applause:

#453

That’s a cool atmosphere you have gave to the image. And the texturing is very impressive. But just a thought. In the back the bridge looks almost untouched. I mean it looks as if the plane just Fell from the sky on to the bridge. I don’t know if you have that in mind so sorry if i was to hurry to judge.

#454

Oh - a new update I see! The wawey road looks cool - I think that the spark idea might be splendid to give the feel that this has just occured.
If this is the speed you work with when you’re having a flu plus other gigs I’m afraid to see what you do on fullspeed :scream:

#455

Spectacular modeling, not so spectacular angle… (IMHO)

#456

Its starting to look alive now James, your work is stunning!!!

I agree that the road and sides look to wavy (but not the cables, that look just perfect!)
The tarmac should crack as would the steel railings on the sides. Also, the main pillar in the background should have more damage as the plane gives the impression that it landed/crashed in a straight line along the bridge. The POV is great IMO, but could be wider.

BTW, what’s the airline?

frenzymedia - Cheers!

shagsa - Thanks. There WILL be more stuff flying through the air, but I have to add one thing at a time  Patience… And I recently removed the wing from the left side for compositional purposes, but I might add it back in again at some later point, who knows. Sort of trying different things out as the work continues…

Vympel - Thank you, and quite right, it’s all in a wip state still, so there’s lots of more destruction to take care of.

nemirc - Yeah, I agree there. Metal debris, yes… heads and bodies, no - it wouldn’t add any spectacularity really.

Alberto Raposo - Oh goody!

spirogyro - I see what you mean about the composition as such. However, getting more of a “bridge-disappearing-into-the-distance” would require moving the camera quite a lot, either to the left or right, or upwards, and none of those alternatives are that great to convey a sense of a photographer being there when it happens… Hopefully however, there will be more depth added when I start adding the background, as it’s just flat white right now.

About the road shifting, I’ve started on that bit, but it’s not yet very obvious. It will be more clear later on.

gardogg - Thanks. Sparks are already on my todo-list. About the center of interest / human center, I have a guy (in the original sketch), running from his wrecked car towards the camera. But your motorcycle idea is cool too, so I’ll be sure to consider that.

Agamemnwn - No engineering today?

SONIC-X - Thanxx.

imbusion - Oh, glad to hear I could pull you out from the dark realms of the lurkers  You are making correct assumptions about things being WIP and everything. As far as sky action goes, I had plans for a thin smoke trail, nothing that would cover a lot of the surface, but just provide a line into the Z for depth so to speak. And maybe a few shocked seagulls.

gpepper - Yeah, well, the road is probably the only thing needing a really huge texture… hopefully I’ll get away with smaller ones for the rest :scream:

Lemog - Exactamundo… one thing after another.

Versiden - It probably IS illegal. Just parking a car on that bridge would no doubt result in a very expensive ticket… can’t imagine what the fine would be for setting down with an Antonov

rattlesnake - Glad to hear that. Your suggestion was very helpful as you can see.

fgcity - No prob, know what you mean. Once I get to that part, there will be lots of torn off secondary suspension wires and maybe residual pieces of the bridge hanging there in a random fashion.

Gunilla - True dat. But I never go full speed. Too lazy for that shit

sergiokomic - Point noted  I might change my mind about the angle eventually, but currently I doubt it.

Peter C - Cracks are on the list, and so is the destruction of the distant tower. The road modules are still just instances, so I cannot make the cracks until I’m sure everything else is settled so that I can make the instances editable. What airline? Hmm… intriguing question  I think maybe the safest thing is to make up an imaginary one. Good thing about that is that I can enjoy a few hours of logotype design as well :scream:

I appreciate all your comments, and especially the fact that you all seem to make such efforts to think about this scene and make all these interesting remarks about all sorts of aspects. It’s really amazing, so thanks again to all

Next update E.T.A. 13 hours from now. Bleep.
