The idea behind this piece is that NY area is beginning to see a period of rebuilding. While we mourn the events of 9/11, I want to show that we are intent on rebuilding our city.

In the piece, a lone welder crouches above the city, welding a section of girder.

Here’s a concept sketch. My only concern is that by obscuring his face, I might lose some of the emotion of the piece. Maybe switch the mask out for goggles. I want to set this either at dawn or at sundown.

started modeling the girder and laying out some of the city - check it out
