Spectacular 3D Entry: Anne Saarinen

#5

The moment I made this sketch I saw that there was something funny with the composition. The girl will be placed more down. And I’ll have to play out the magnificence of the huge planet compared to the teeny dingy rock she’s so proud of.

Did I mention she’s wearing a corset?

I started my meek attemps in modelling tonight, but before that there’s more concept art to come!

Looks good. I can’t wait for some modeling wips.

p.s. Hope you feel better.:wavey:

I’m officially offended by your avatar.

(Still running fever, hopefully not too much to work on this during the weekend.)

#8

I made some sketches for me to get to know the character and the feelings she’s supposed to convey. I thought you might enjoy these.

(She’s supposed to have a laser gun in her hand, but don’t worry, its set on stun.)

Greetings Anne,

Something you said caught my eye and i want to offer you some encouragement.

I PERSONALLY think you have one of the more original ideas ive seen in this challenge. REMEMBER the guidelines are, create something spectacular within the realms of possibility and THINK BEYOND conventional imagery.

Yours is not just another, monster, city, place in space or amazing show of lights and geometry, i think you should go all out and make this as much as you can in the remaining time. No doubt the mentioned ideas are also great and many of these more conventional ideas and images will go far, but that does not strike me as what the judges may considder as WINNING material.

The prizes aren’t what its all about but i wont deny it, i WANT to win and i am pushing hard to make that come true, what if you were to end 9nth place with a moderate attempt at just Finishing something, wouldn’t you regret not having pushed all out and maybie ended 5th (in the prizes :-)?

Keep at it, if you need help ask, you can learn how to make this as good as any other submission, were all here to help - so come on girl - give it all you got till you aint got nothing left to give!

Many free hours i wish unto thee - to work on your submission offcourse, remember HARD WORK takes you places.

i’ll check in again soon.

bye

It’s true I’ve tried to keep the model very simple as she’ll be my first full body model.

So excited!

#12

That’s so kind of you!

I got attached to my idea because it’s not about grand scenery or fancy flying things but about simple emotions that can take your breath away.

I want people to feel proud and happy for my adventurer and to appreciate the situation she’s in. She has made the choice to follow her heart on to that rock and she won’t be fooled by the gorgeous planet next to her! I want to make people smile with my entry. So how’s that for cheesy.

So thank you for encouraging words. I’ll do my best to work hard to make her justice.

She doesn’t have a name yet…suggestions anyone?

#13

This is a great concept! If you can show all of the pride of your heroine when she stands on her little rock it will be spectacular indeed. Good luck - looking forward to see where you take this

#14

Good concept, and I like the style of the character. I’m looking forward to seeing how it turns out.

#15

Yeah… good idea… a poetic/sci-fi concept… I love that… it’s a really refreshing subject in this world of brutes, of war and death.

Good design for the heroin  I’m very curious to discover your style… best wishes and good luck for the continuation…

#16

The final piece of concept art.

All these sketches were made just for me to get to know the character.

The biggest challenge is to keep the feeling these sketches are trying to convey. I’m trying to keep the style of mogelling similar to the style of the drawings, angular and stylized.

Gunilla, ChrisThatGuy and Lemog:

Thank you so much for your kind words and yes, I too am very curious to see where this is heading. I’m still at a very beginners level, so I’ll be working hard. I’ll propably be asking a bunch of questions too (mostly from Mikkolix and Juhone, my two guardian angels, do check out their entries too)

#18

Cool concept drawings, good luck with the challenge!

#19

Very sweet design… sure… you must keep this particular design in your 3d model… :buttrock:

#20

So I packed my very “portable” laptop (It weighs a ton and then some.) on Friday evening and took off to my parents for a night of work.

The face is completely…wonky and everything is still very much in flux but I am very satisfied with the waistline. Of course the edges of the corset will be more defined.

I just had so much fun in modelling this one that I’m sure it’s banned in several states. Except with the face. I noticed that I’d messed up the reference drawing in that part, so the face is done with a reference just from the front. Pay no attention to it.

#21

Hey! This looks great! Good progress so far. Topology on the torso looks also flawless! Keep up the good work!

#22

nice! I cant wait to see the rest of the sexy alien body

Face needs some depth though… and you should re-think how the polygons should be in the shoulder… But excellent so far!

#23

Everythings still too flat. Except where it’s too edgy.

But really, I hate modelling heads. I was just struggling with the edge loops, and no, at the moment you won’t be getting a shot any closer. She looks like a pug, with her face all flat.

That torso on the other hand = no fuss, all fun.

#24

Hey I really like your concept. And it’s great too see your already into modeling her! Good luck to you
