Spectacular 2D Entry: Valerio Viano Antonioli

#1

Valerio Viano Antonioli is entered in the “Spectacular Challenge” update: View Challenge Page

Latest Update: Line Art: Line sketch

#2

My very first entry in the 2D realm.
The concept is simple: Smoking will finish with all of us (including me:)

Trying something different, but it’s up to you to decide if it’s spectacular or not.
Anyways, the best lucks to all of you!!

Hi everybody,
Second sketch for the challenge. Trying to build some kind of colour scheme and light/shadow relation.

How do you feel about this? Comments ALWAYS appreciated (even bad ones)
I’m new to Painter and still trying to feel comfortable with it  Any tips?

#4

Wow great concept, very original!
Maybe some ashtray people running and screaming around in panic trying to escape from the giant cig. Remember that scene from MIB 2 when Tommy puts his finger in this liquid sphere and then you see all these tiny aliens running from the giant finger coming from the sky “oh no! we’re doomed!” ? funny scene.

Anyways, cool sketch, keep it up!

#5

very interesting concept base on an actual fact~hehe:)nice going~:scream:

#6

Thanks for your comments

Rudeone: Thanks a lot for the tip on the running people. I intended to put some kind of lifeform in there, but not quite sure on how i’ll do it.

sh@ke: Yes, I cough roughly 20 min. every morning, he, he. Let’s see where this ends :banghead:

More sketches and colour wips soon…

#7

Added people running away from the meteorite cigar and changes in the colour scheme.

What do you think? Any suggestions?

Still deciding what style will go for this… maybe a more comic look?

#8

Hey Valerio thats a nice thought youve got dude:). truly said comic style suits best for this concept,I guess. Wish you best of luck.

#9

Ah yes, cool!

A comic-style would be great, perhaps kinda cartoony to make it a really funny piece and maybe instead of ‘real’ people you could make em alienlike, maybe even buglike like roaches or something that could be very funny, just a thought tho it’s all up to you mate:thumbsup:

Changed perspective to a (I think) more dramatic one. Considering to do a sunset colour scheme with dark grey buildings and random light streaks with a warm orange.
Far, far away in the horizon is an ash mountain and the two things in the bottom are two Bic lighter trains. People are desperate to run away from the inminent cigar collision.
Hope this one makes a more ‘spectacular’ picture than the previous sketches. I think this will be the one to make final line art and begin colouring

Any comments or ideas?

PD: Image is a bit blurry because the sketch is on paper, measures 1m. x 70 cm. I like to work BIG

#11

Hi Valerio thanks for droping by, thought Id stop by too, and guess what ,its begnning to look better and better! keep going best of luck!

#12

Starting to make final line art. Still needs work.
Considering how to scan it as it’s a very large paper and doesn’t fit in my A4 scanner. Maybe some repro house with a large scanner may do de job… maybe dividing it in parts (oooh sooo much work!) and mounting it afterwards.
Don’t know.

Well, in a couple of days I will begin base colouring and you’ll see how it will look and feel.

Critics and comments are welcomed in this stage
