Very primitive, early sketch of what I am imagining. In the distant future, man launches the first aerial city with the help of alien technology.

I’m still planning to add a character in the foreground.

#3

More work on the original concept in which I will probably pursue.
Also, a very early lighting test to see where the best place would be to place the strong light source

#4

wow cool idea! I really like your concepts so far. Keep it going!

Good luck

#5

I like the clean lines in your sketches. Lighting is simple and to the point. I find the composition dynamic and the concept is really interesting. Keep it up!

#6

floating island cities are always spectacular :). its a great start, particularly the composition which is very impressive and balanced.

#7

Thanks for the comments! Floating cities NEVER lose interest
I’m working on my lineart now and hopefully will start the fun part soon

#8

OK … now show us some color! :bounce:

Will you be doing sharp shadows? Since the sun is right there in the horizon.
Good luck!

#9

Experimenting with different colors. This was a quick rough one to see if the colors would fit the scene and work with the composition

#10

Definately will have sharp shadows in the foreground, I just have to figure out where the sun will go first  Too bad there isn’t a “raytrace shadows” button in photoshop

#11

That sun looks so real I squint at it. He he. Good looking composition so far!

#12

Line Art, made some changes to the structure, and some other minor changes in the environment

#13

This is an important part for me because it decides the overall color tone for the entire image. Currently painting clouds at the moment

#14

Progress on the clouds
