Long long way to go on this…

Idea is mankind has totally surrounded animalkind, and an escaped lab chimp has written “ours” in the sand in front of a small hill with one tree standing on it, supposedly the last tree on the planet. The human crowd is shoving eachother for space, and the polluted city rises around the hill on all sides. There is an animal recovery team pointing tranquilizer guns at the lead ‘lab’ chimp, and a few people angry at the gun toters. Animals of all sorts are on the hill, facing out toward the crowd defiantly. Not sure if I want to take this down a comedic or darker path though. Thoughts welcome…good karma welcome

I changed the aspect… Not sure If I’m going to be able to fit everything I want into this image, but maybe color will yield some clarity… In case you couldn’t tell I am pretty much a crappy artist, but hey, I’m trying. I wish I could get more action into this though.

Or then you could have the actual animal lab in the pic in form of a giant building.

The building would be a secret military test lab, where they’d been trying to make
weapons of just about every kind of animals there is.
In the great escape where the chimp had freed the other animals, there would have been
a big fight with the military personnel in the building and the outer walls on many floors
of the building would have been completely blown away, leaving huge holes in the
building’s side. Now the whole building would be in the hands (er…and paws, n such)
of the animals and the humans ,of course, would be wanting it back, without killing
everybody inside.

Through these holes would be seen a bunch of scientists and soldiers huddling in a
corner, people who’d become prisoners of the freed lab animals, guarded by axe-
weilding flamingoes with robotic arms. In another room could be seen an anaconda,
hanging from the roof and constricting some general.
A Chinook- like helicopter would be approaching, with its side open, showing a bunch
of human negotiators with a white flag and a megaphone.
A lion with laser eyes and a rocket launcher on her back would be standing on a
fallen down piece of the outer wall - that now looked like a broken bridge reaching
out of the building and ending in mid-air - watching the incoming craft, ready to
blow it out of the sky if the humans showed any signs of aggression.
Behind the lion, two chimps with lab assistant coats on, cut shorter to fit them better,
wearing sunglasses and having pieces of their brain implants showing through their
skulls, would be waiting eagerly to start the negotiations with the humans.
As a little King King tribute, a big biomech gorilla bould be swinging wildly on a
radio mast at the top of the building.

Thanks for the comments everyone! I admit I was beginning to think entering this was a mistake. Special thanks to Squibbit, who is probably eating his wheaties daily. I hope you get some writing time in between winning contests and stuff man. Well, there is definitely more room to explore the concept, so maybe I’ll try some differerent sketches or something…

It would be nice to get down there more in the front row and still give a good impression of being surrounded, and it would make the animals much clearer and the efforts to recapture them clearer as well, I guess it depends on the next night I get inspired (and have time even). Kind of shying away from the lab idea as the central location, only because i saw another entry somewhere inside a lab yesterday, something with dogs, and i dont want to give the impression of copying an idea. Also wondering what the sign language sign is for “Mine” or “Ours” because if it is recognizable it might make more sense than the writing… I dunno.

BTW-does anyone know some good traditional painting technique sites (or book!?) or do you all mostly learn from looking at eachothers work and just painting stuff? It seems like some of the skill on here is amazing and if it is 100% natural I’d be blown away. (and cry too) I am majorly regretting never taking a studio art class when I was in school.

Cheers~
