When I saw that the challenge theme was spectacular I immediately wanted to capture an imaginary turning point in future history. I want it to have the quality of a Magnum Photograph, and resonate like a student standing in front of a tank in Tianamin Square, or the Berlin wall being torn down. This could be seen as a struggle against spectacular society, a culture of watching and not doing anything.
So I intend to have carnival like protesters surging over a fence. The thought of massive demonstrations of empathy (like those against the iraq war) certailnly quickened my pulse. Is this a good idea?

Here is a better concept sketch. I think I might introduce another character, already standing on top of the fence, either a girl in festive dress or a robot (always such a tough design between the two) At the moment the guy looks a little too militant and a girl in a tutu might help bring it back. More background (flags, banners, flames) and some other hands grasping the fence, but hopefully you get the idea.

I thought doing another character would bring more interest to the image, and it soes. However it seems to make it more static…less dynamic. Perhaps in another climbing pose or helping up Mr.Fox would be better. the colour and fun the anti capitalist fairy adds to the scene though. thoughts?

true its less dynamic because you cant see the fence … maybe you could widen the first sketch and put her in a climbing pose as well …hehe her outfit is really cool :smiley:

I quite liked this, kinda inspired by footage of Tianamen square that I saw recently. I think that kind of defiance is spectacular, and has made such a lasting image.
However I think I would like to depict the moment of triumph after such a confrontation. My Protest characters posed on top of the Corporate tank (in the future governments are sponsored). What do you think. As I am going on holiday to Portugal, I am likely not to be able to do digital work on this for some time. I’ll keep my pencil busy though. Nice one.

Awesome idea!! I love the idea of the corporate tank, I just watched the documentary “The Corporation” so it doesn’t seem to far fetched. I really like the concept sketches of the characters, they are so original. You definately have to include the other characters in the tank concept if you go that route. Keep going I will definately be watching this one.

I like the idea very much! An elf or feary trying to stop the destruction of our mother eart from those big buisness empires. I couldn’t find such a good idea. your style too is interesting. Keep up with your good work!:slight_smile:
