Something completely different. I started thinking about the things that I consider ‘spectacular’ and I realised that there aren’t too many of those experiences left for adults. As a child however, there are fresh discoveries to be made every day and while I might not have realised it at the time, each of those new experiences were spectacular. This pic’s an attempt to get some of that sensation of childhood excitement across - though I’ve tried ( as in my M&S entry ) to make things a little bit ambiguous.
This is Ghertram and Gherthilda stumbling upon the ‘old man of the forest’ who only ventures out once a year, to drink tea in the sunlit glades on the day the butterflies escape their cocoons. There’s a caterpillar watching the spectacle on the tree on the left. I might give the little girl a camera, or a sketchbook so they can tell the story to Granny Ghertwart.
Not sure if this communicates ‘spectacular’ clearly enough, but this is my concept for now. I’m going to live with it for a bit and see how it feels after the weekend.
Hmm. An unusually wordy post. And one that I’m worried might make me sound a bit of a hippy. EAT MORE MEAT!
There you go.
