Hi,
First of all I would like to say it’s my first post here. I’m still new to exploring vast possiblities of computer graphics. I had always been a traditional artist, but now i see my closest future close to wacom:]

I’m going to put my greatest effort in perfecting the piece, even though I lack in experience with digital color. I attach first concept lineart preceded with a lot of visualizing my ideas. Unfortunatelly I can’t share with first sketches done on paper, because of not having scanner… But I assure you they are quite similar (more simple of course).

I’m going to add some dramatic feeling using warm and cool colors at once (interesting experiment for me). Don’t suggest too much the fact it’s the lineart, because it’s how i got used to work with pencil. The next step is to add color and sharpen all the details. Can I regard this as “Concept Sketch milestone” and skip the “Line Art milestone”?

Wish me good luck as it is my first public competition, considering imposed challenge subject. Good luck to everyone else here and there, trying their skills in art!

Any suggestions?? I’m not thinking about details, beacuse it’s too soon. Would u advice me on colors and lighting setting?

I like the color on this, and the idea with the lightning, mybe you could use a little more shadow, and seems a bit centered, try playing with the side hills I think this could fix it,
I think it’s got great potential, :buttrock:

Yeap, nice start :slight_smile: This can be a very intresting piece. I suppose you’re heading to realizm in this one. Work out the landscape and it will be really amazing!

I continue to develop my idea. I cropped it and added some eruptions. There is a lot of smoky things out there (clouds etc), but I don’t feel it dominates the picture. I wonder if i will be able to see it finished. Long way to go! Greets!

I agree, the lightning looks wonderful - I really like this. I think is could us a little something on the forground on the bottom left though, just to balance the weight of the picture a bit more. But it’s looking great, I’m interested to see how it develops.

No major changes… Just looking for something interesting. I feel that I do too much intuitionally. I need some color and composition thoery, so I’m going to visit some tutorial section soon.

So here it is. Some parts look finished and I guess they won’t change drastically. I paid more attention to the sky and composition. I felt something was missing, so I added a futuristic plane, but it looks very heavy. Maybe it would be fine for military object, but even then it doesn’t fit properly (imho). What’s your opinion? Also the buildings needs to be somehow pop out to cover up bright horizon a bit. Do you think flipping it horizontally helped somehow?

Remember it’s only the next wip, so any advice would be very welcome:]

P.S. Til today I used to paint without photoshop effects (layer effects etc), but it really makes painter’s job easier! Even if I didn’t expect something to show up I left it because it looked kinda cool.

Wow, your scene is very good so far! I like the way you create the background. I really feel an appocalytic ambience.

Hi mate0. I like your start Paints, but in my opinion they have to much colors and looks more like chaos. Try to reduce the colors, may be can help. Just an idea. :shrug:

Thanks for comments everyone! I try to comply all your suggestions. Currently I have a break in this wip for few weeks (or maybe this will change). I want to practise more on ‘color action’.

2xbo - yeah, I think u’re right (partially:P). I think i will aim to add more and more of soft reds, because it’s already dominating there. Chaos effect is kinda intended, because such tragic moments can’t be ‘schematic’ or ‘organized’. But probably you meant that eye isn’t led by any particular object, so it’s my major point in next wip.

I’m ipresed how you did explosion. Just, sky’s colors are too active, if you could reduce them, it might look beter.
