Good luck for the challenge james ! goos start:)
Spectacular 2D Entry: James Kei
This is a really great idea. I too when heard of the spectacular challenge thought of an alien mothership visiting earth ala Independence day, and I think the idea coincides with the description of something that is frightening/exciting yet a life changing event, extremely well. You got there first though :P. Good luck mate.
yeah, I like the perspective and scale your getting here. I can see the ship drifting slowly forward shooting off its display. I think your main challenge might be to convey the emotion of the people watching it, is it terror? Shock? Awe? Good luck James.
Good luck man! i know your work from CA so i’m looking forward to see what you come up with.
( btw : Are you going to Prague? )
Cheers
Tom
At this point, Iv’e extended the canvas to show more of the cityscape. I’m still not resolved on the mothership yet, or the direction that the color is going, but it’s gettin’ there slowly. I’m also starting to block in some of the architecture. Still a looooong way to go!
loooootts of luck…the con concept is great:drool: and the detail so far:drool: gotta go get myself a droolbucket
Hi James Kei. WOW. I like your style. Looks great that pic. Keep going. I’ll one eye into your project.

the colors u added are really nice, though it feels a little bit grey. Maybe add just a little bit more colors.

starting to look good, not quite convinced to the ship, but since your’e still working, I just sit and wait ,
great job man

Looks great!
But :wise: Youre loosing a lot of the dynamics you had with the concept sketch. Thus making the picture slightly more boring. Unless that is your intention of course?
What is the focal point of the picture? You should also separate the foremost buildings slightly from the horizon color palette. To achieve a bit more depth.
Anyway you propably had all of these aspects in your mind already ![]()
